Hear me out here...Buckner is not my #1, #3 actually and lower than that before the 2 trade ups for QB's. However, IF Ramsey goes #3 and there are no trade back partners Buckner is my guy.

6'7 291, 34 3/8" arms, 11 3/4" hands. 83 tackles, 17 for loss, and a Pac-12 leading 10.5 sacks last season

Quick off of the snap and generates power with his long arms to jolt blockers back.
Surprisingly agile, shows the ability to dip and bend to turn the corner and get to the qb
Advanced hand usage and shows a very effective swim move.
Position flex outside or inside
Good motor, not a lazy player at all
May just be scratching the surface of his potential

When stacked up vs Bosa, Zeke, and any other non Ramsey, Goff, or Wentz prospect Buckner is pulling ahead for me

position flex is a key term. we all know Rod loves that. If he's the pick, then Rod approves and I will wish him well in his playing days as a Cowboy.

I don't think he's fast enough to regularly get to the QB from the 4-3 edge. He'd make a fine DT, but I personally don't think we should spend the top pick on one.

I wouldn't mind him at all. He's the number three ranked player on nfl.com with a grade of 7.23 ahead of Bosa 6.7, Ramsey 6.8, and Elliot 7.0. He would be an instant upgrade to our front seven on defense.

I'm willing to put a toe on the wagon and here's why...Crawford/Buckner/Thornton/Lawrence, Gregory, or who ever is not smoking something is a very stout dline. Buckner has to play 3T to be most effective. Crawford can play LDE. Nobody will run down our throats with this dline.

Somebody post something resembling a coherent thought on why not. And without the stock response of "he plays too high".

Ready go....

I think he's a 3T in our system. I don't think he's a pass rushing threat from the 4-3 edge. I don't think the need (DT/1T) justifies the pick, unless he's far and away the best prospect on the board. As I don't think he will be: Pass.

Crawford isn't a full time LDE, IMO. We hurt Crawford's value to make room for Buckner, by forcing him into a less than ideal role.

I'd get on the Buckner at #8 + a 2nd Trade Down Bandwagon.

Somebody else can have my seat on the Buckner at #4 Bandwagon.
