If you put a gun to my head I'd say Hardy.

Like some others, I think there are other WRs that could be had in rounds 3-5.

Monk
Nelson
Henry

James Hardy of Indiana because he put up decent stats with a horrible QB, is huge, and can fly. I can at least hope with a good QB like Romo that he'd develop into a good WR.

Still sticking with my belief we're adding a vet WR.

Looking hard, too. If we get that guy are we not going to draft a WR high?

Jackson at 28...we have a great 1, and a solid 2 in crayton. Give us the speedy guy to catch underneath close to the line of scrimmage passes and let him run.

I notice there is very little speration but Perfect throws from Henne.
after watching these I would not touch Mario in first 2 rounds

on a few of them there were seperation but for the most part there was not and one or two that he did have seperation to me it looked like other team may have been in zone coverage

Hardy probably has the best combination of physical skills and size. Having said that, I am not a big fan of taking players with legal issues in the first round. It would probably be Sweed. I watched Texas a great deal last year. Two things I saw. One, Sweed was open a lot but Texas could not Protect well enough to throw deep to him. Even against double coverage, he was open a lot. Two, Texas was forced to shorten up there offensive passing game a great deal. This pretty much went away from Sweed's stregths as a WR. He is not a great route runner. He will have to improve in this area. Having said that, those are things that can be taught. I remember when I first saw Sweed at UT. I thought that he could be the kind of player that would dominate College Football. The problem is that he really hasn't improved much in that time IMO. Is this because he doesn't have the work ethic and drive to do so or is it because he plays for Texas? If he had gone to SC or Miami, would he be that player I thought he would be, right now? I don't know. I tend to think that the upside on him is better then most others. I like Kelly but I don't have real good info on him so I can't say he would be the pick. If I had to pick a guy now, it would probably be Sweed but I would never take a WR in the 1st in this draft. Not ever.

Sweed will probably drop. I would take him in the 2nd.

If I had my rathers, it would probably be these guys.

Andre Caldwell 2nd Rd.
Lavelle Hawkins 3rd Rd.
Marcus Monk 3rd Rd.
Durius Reynaud 4th Rd.
Will Franklin 5th
Bruce Hocker 7th Rd.

I'm in favor of trading for a Vet and taking a player like the ones listed above as a development WR.

I like your list of developmental WRs.

I would also add D Jackson in Rounds 3/4 and Earl Bennett in Round 2/3 area.

I would go with Hardy, just because I think he carries the smallest bust factor. You would think at the very least he could find a role as a Ernest Wilford type redzone weapon.

The hardest worker.
I think WR is a position you can really improve at with hard work and dedication, all the great ones seem to have had it, except Moss I can't remember one that didn't. Rice, Irvin, TO, etc.

Just saw my sig line says I would pick Thomas...:p:

He's a bit of a knucklhead thou. I agree with you on all you said but I worry about paying a kid like Hardy first round money. In today's NFL, the punishment for transgretion is quick and painful, it would seem. Now that teams are going to be penalized for drafting questionable character players, I just am not in favor of going to far out on a limb for a guy who I really don't believe is a 1st round talent. Heck, I don't really think any of them are. JMO.

I actually considered both of these players. Jackson is talented and he would help as a return guy but he's just too small. I would fear that he could not last as a return man and WR for a full season. I love his quicks but his size really scares me. He is also supposed to have some character issues but I don't know how serious they are.

Bennett is a guy who I initially looked at as well. He has good size and speed but his explosion numbers are not very good. 26 vertical, 9-2 Broad, bench is OK at 15 but to me, that's really not a real indicative piece of a WRs game. That's really the only reason I didn't consider him a bit more. Would like to get a guy who has the skills to become special in some area, if your going to spend the resources on developing him. I don't know. He was good for Cutler at Vandy. You may be right.

Well why do teams draft in the early rounds anyway then? Might as well trade down and have 20 picks in the last 3 rounds.

Why stop there? Let's trade all of our picks and see if we can't get all choices in the seventh round! Championship! ;)

I see the opposite with Sweed's development, and I think most UT fans early in his career did also. At first say as a redshirt freshman you saw a guy who had size, but didn't see him as having the athleticism that he's ended up showing. And didn't know if he'd ever put it all together. Didn't know that he'd really be a guy who would make big plays. But he developed and improved SO much over his UT career. He ended up being fairly dominant, when I wasn't sure that would ever happen. He does have areas to improve upon though.

- Malcolm Kelly (1st)
- Limas Sweed (28)
-Desean Jackson (maybe 28, or early 2nd if we trade down)
- Mario Manningham (2nd)
- Jordy Nelson or Marcus Monk(3/4/5)

Obviously gonna depend on just how the draft goes. If Malcom is there at 22, I would grab him, take best db on board at 28 (even a safety if its K Phillips) then trade up for Jamal or Chris Johnson. Or, Best cb at 22, then if Limas is sitting there at 28, think you would have to pull trigger. Honestly not that 100% on Limas though.

Who knows, this is why Jerry charges the fans the big bucks. WR is a tough position to draft.

I don't agree with this. I've seen most of the games he's played in and I can't say that this is what I saw. Of course, that is only my opinion.
