Well here are some reasons:
Dallas held the best RB in the game to only 72 yards. LT was pretty much a non-factor after SD's first TD drive.
Crayton is a playmaker and proved it in a real game. 6 Rec. 89 yards and a TD, not bad for a 7th round pick eh? He is a lot more impressive than his stats indicate. He caught everything thrown to him and fought hard for the YAC. He is a tough kid who I think will be really special to this team for years to come.
Keyshawn showed he can still come through BIG in a game. He may not have blazing speed but he gets open and fights hard for the catch. His 2nd TD was really a clutch catch. He knew the ball was coming to him and gave us the lead late in the game.
Julius Jones not only has moves, but he runs with authority and power. Every time he carries the ball I'm on the edge of my seat because I know he can take it to the house from anywhere on the field. He also got involved in the passing game yesterday which I loved.
Drew Bledsoe can still make all the throws. He is a true leader out there. For the first time since Aikman, I have confidence our QB can make clutch throws and win games for us. I always thought that unphased look on his face was just because he was stupid, I was wrong. He looked confident and calm when a big play was on the line, I noticed this on a number of occasions when they showed his face in the huddle. Bledsoe does scare me sometimes when he stands in the pocket too long, but he really stepped up yesterday when the O-Line gave him time.
This group of WR's is going to be dangerous. I can really see us running some 4WR sets with Keyshawn, Glenn, Crayton and Price. If Bledsoe has time to throw the ball LOOK OUT. I don't think WR is our priority in the draft next year, OL is.
Anthony Henry, 5 pass deflections and an interception. Enough said.
The rookies played pretty well as a group.
Although we gave up 24 points, our defense really stepped up when necessary.
Our offense scored 28 points.
What needs to be fixed:
OL mental errors, I'm not too worried because this was Pettiti's first real game. I think Pettiti was a real solid pick for us and is more than capable of playing RT. He is really tough and shows improvement every game.
Keith Davis charging the line when Brees scrambled, leaving McCardell wide open in the endzone. Again, this is his first real game so I'm not too worried.
All I can say after this game is HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!
