Why are people complaining and blaming the D

1. At one point in the first half the Giants had less than four minutes time of possession but a 7-6 lead. I know the offense didn't finish drives, but how can you let the Giants score so quickly?

2. There's no pass rush, which is really no big news. Moving on...

3. Where was the run defense with the game in the balance? I know it's a team game, but the Cowboys had a chance to get the ball back with over two minutes to play and New York was running through Grand Canyon sized holes.

Overall this was not a winning effort on defense, and it's something that would have been a problem no matter who was at quarterback today.

Okay why does everyone point to ToP... We had one more drive than they did, and scored 1 fewer point. So what, their drives were quicker, but that doesn't mean they scored anymore. ToP is good measure for wearing out the D... Nothing else

20pts lol. Again 20pts. Did you predict 20 pts before the game?
When you slow down the game and play keepaway, you not only limit your opponent's possessions, you limit your own. That means you either have to be very good at finishing drives, or your defense has to be very good at keeping teams out of the end zone.

We failed on both counts today.

They held the to 20 pts. If you told me that before the game I'd take it. The ones complaining are some of the same ones who would've laughed if someone said we would hold them to 20 pts yet they are still complaining.

If blame goes anywhere it should go on the wr's. Too many drops. Someone will watch the all 22 and post but we didn't stretch the field but I don't know if that was on Dak, the play calling or the Giants D just doing a good job at taking it away.

Overall not a horrible game. All the doom and gloom is quite ammusing.

It's not the number of points, we can't make critical stops. While they were scoring TD's they were holding us to FG's. If we could have held them to a FG with just over 6 minutes to play we would have had a 3 point lead and the ball.

You in la la land.

D has clear problems.
Never said they didn't. But in this game they gave up 20 pts. If our offense needs less than that to win our offense has bigger issues than our d

I'm fine with the number of points they allowed, but in watching the game their presence felt largely irrelevant. Great interception from Carr on a terrible throw that should have never been made. Very, very little pressure. Soft against the run. Weak in the red zone.

I agree -- the fact we only allowed 20 points was a win in and of itself. But I'm afraid they aren't going to be a very fun unit to watch.

The D was also a problem today. You are trying to make yourself feel better.

Because 20 points on 9 possessions is bad defense.

It would have ranked 28th over a full season last year.
If it was 20 pts on 4 possessions it was still 20 pts. Thsr me and our offense had a lot of possesions they failed on. At the end of the day if given up 20 pts isn't good enogh that's on the offense not defense

D could've been better. I'll take 1 TD out of the 3 FG's we hit. Offense got owned.

19 points on 9 possessions (or however many they had) is bad offense..
The offense needs to finish drives. The 1.90 points per possession would have ranked 19th. Better than the defense, but not good enough.

That's a coaching point that JG will never get.

The defense wasn't on the field for very long and still failed to stop them. They got killed by inside zone runs all game long. I thought they made nice adjustments at the half, but fizzled out in the 4th quarter.

We did get an interception though.

You can judge the performances by looking at last year's numbers for a full season. Offense was below average, defense was considerably worse.

Points allowed is a seriously misleading stat because of the offense's TOP as some have already pointed out. If the offense has more quick 3 and outs, Giants blow the doors off this team

You do realize what a horrible OL NY has, right? I know that we are the "nickname defense", but "been run though like soft butter" isn't flattering, at all. Especially, when we knew the running plays were coming.

If given up 20 pts is a problem then we have serious offensive issues.

Defesne wore down and got gashed at the end. About what I expected. Middling and not really good enough to take you anywhere.
