Most people here must be suffering from amnesia or multiple personality disorder. I guess there is always the chance that they change their minds faster than my girlfriend when picking out shoes at the department store.

Never heard it. I think that is an old cliché.

I would love it if people would think twice or perhaps three times before posting, and rationalize what it is they are saying. there are so many good posters with something well worth commenting on, but I have to weed through 90% BS to discover something of intelligence.

It's always "what have you done for me lately?" When Romo gutted it out against the defending world champs he was a hero. A bad game, he's a zero. Same for any other player or coach.

It's a shame. Your comments, and those of some of the regulars, are what I look forward to reading.

I can't stand how so many people are over reacting by proposing that we dismantle the team.

I've maintained from Day 1 this season a "Show me what you've got in December" mentality. I long said I would not get fooled by any of the noise beforehand. While September through November was of critical importance, this team's December history became too great to ignore.

Unfortunately, this team showed me what it had in December.

And Romo's performance against New York was great. Legendary, even, had this team went on and done something. The America's Game film could have chronicled how he went out there, all banged to hell, and gutted out a victory over the defending champs to spur our own Super Bowl run.

Unfortunately for Romo, his good game was negated by three of his absolute worst performances as a Cowboy. It's impossible to build him up for that Giants game and forget what he did against Pittsburgh, the bulk of the Baltimore game and Philadelphia.

Add to that this is the same old song and dance this time of year and, yeah, I'm pretty down right now.

Not just down because of how much this season hurt. But down because I'm genuinely, deeply concerned this team doesn't have what it takes to do anything but do the exact same thing next year.
:eek::

Edit: And Romo is just a microcosm of the team as a whole. The defense had gutty efforts, but stunk down the stretch against Pittsburgh, stunk against Baltimore and stunk against Philadelphia. It's hard to be stoked about what they did against Seattle or San Francisco or New York when three of their last four performances -- even that Pittsburgh game, which started off so amazingly -- left a bitter taste.

Theres just too many fingers to point for people. The expectations were high. The talent is there. The passion not so much. I think Tony Romo has high potential, our D has high potential. They just need real guidance. But such a painful defeat had people going hysterical. Unlike many im the first generation in my fam to be a cowboy fan, an NFL fan also. Ill stay loyal to my teams thru thick and thin. Took my soccer team 9 years to win a championship after having won 10. And they won that championship in a stadium that they had been winless in for the same 9 years. No matter what happens ill be cheering for the Boyz, and ill be backing my QB.

I agree. This team's problem isn't one player. It's not like we need to magically remove one guy and we'll be fine.

We need an earnest self-evaluation. Look, across the board, at how we do things from a physical, mental and preparation standpoint. Reconsider how each teammate views the other in relation to their importance to one another.

This is a team that went from being, well, a team, to somehow something far less. We need to get back to being a team, worried about doing the little things right throughout the week, at all times, and far less concerned with who has us going where in the playoffs.

Maybe Wade's message of change today can bring that. Admission of guilt is the first step, and Wade clearly is admitting his old methods aren't working. Now it's up to him properly instilling the new plan, and his players buying into it and executing it.

I was assured that the post Thanksgiving swoon that has happened since 1997 was irrelevant. I didn't think so, and still don't.

If you think my first glance at next year's schedule won't be December and the especially the last game of the year, then you don't know or understand my paranoia.

I wish I knew what the hell causes this. I did an entire thread where I posted our results in every month we have ever played a game. I had to know.

I said the next day the only thing that didn't hurt on him was his pajamas. I don't think people got the joke. Unfortunately he went from that game right to the ravens who beat him up more, and then the Eagles. Jim Johnson is our assassin. Romo paid the ransom note.

Pittsburgh was the weather and the field position more than anything else. Neither team could move on that side of the field. It bit us in the buns.

Add to that this is the same old song and dance this time of year and, yeah, I'm pretty down right now.
I needed us to win. Not wanted it. Needed it. 2008 was brutal on me. One of the 3 worst years of my life and I have had some bad ones.

Not just down because of how much this season hurt. But down because I'm genuinely, deeply concerned this team doesn't have what it takes to do anything but do the exact same thing next year.

The saving grace is no team is the same from year to year. If you believe they are then you should replace all 53 and coaching staff every year you can't win it all.

I can't say I disagree. Maybe because I don't. The Rams loss was the most bitter to me. I knew we were going to lose to Philly. I knew it as clear as day. 2008 just wasn't meant to give me any peace.

I don't really disagree with anything you're saying.

I don't hold this particular team accountable for past December failures, but I do hold them accountable for the past three years. And I hold the organization as a whole -- basically, Jerry -- accountable that this is a trend not only for this current group but a decade-long stench that spans, what, five head coaches and probably at least 7 quarterbacks.

Like you, I don't know the answer. What's so aggravating is that the answer isn't readily apparent, and I'm becoming increasingly more concerned that Jerry of all people is not the man to locate a tough-to-find problem and fix it.

Two last points: Agreed no team is the same generally year to year, and you never know when it suddenly "clicks." But I can't lie that it concerns me that many of the same problems continue to haunt this team on a yearly basis, and under different coaches. What will it take to change our spots?

And lastly, I concede your explanations for some of Romo's bad performances. Those justifications are reasonable and part of the reason I'm eager for him to return for another year and have another stab at it.

My concern? It's always something with Romo in December. Either he's hurt, Owens was hampered, or something. There's always an excuse. It's alarming that he can be, what 22-4 in the other months and 5-10 in December/January. The contrast is simply alarming -- too much so for me to truly believe one little thing here or there is the cause of it. But you can sure bet I'm hoping that to be the case.

\One can only hope for a better year. 2009 is around the corner.

As high as everyone was coming off of the 2007 season, and as low as everyone is coming off of the 2008 season, I'd say they will feel much better about the 2009 season.

2007 was a fantastic season. I had so much fun watching some of those games. This year was a biter pill to swallow. I blame the injuries more than I do the team as a whole.

Next season will be better, and we are well prepared. The football gods just need to be on our side in 2009.

It isn't just Romo though. Since 1997 we have blown December chunks.

We have not won the last game of the season since 1999. That is 10 straight years. The idea that we can win in the post season is foreign to me now. I've been around since the days we dominated post season. The idea that we can't beat the Cardinals at home in 1998 is beyond me. We had swept the division that year. The only NFC East team to win all 8 division games. That is one of only 2 post season wins in Cardinals History. The other is in 1947. It gnaws at me.

The galling thing to me is I do not believe this is a bad team. I don't buy into the Jerry is a horrible GM stuff. I'm not Wade's biggest fan, but he isn't a stupid coach and Parcells wasn't stupid at all, but he couldn't beat this either. We have players I wouldn't trade for any other in the NFL.

I swear someone spit in the eye of the village witch and she put a curse on us. I'm not a big fan of chicken, but damnit I will eat chicken every dinner of 2009 if it means the curse will be lifted.

Hell, I would allow a Commanders, Eagles, or Giants fan to kick me right in the fellas if it would lift the curse, and I gotta tell you, I don't like getting kicked there.

Despite Romo's comments, which people have taken too much to heart, i think theres alot of fight in him. It's just when your hurting mentally and physically that the wrong things can be said. Injuries wore quite bad, McBriar was very much missed, Felix even more. Well im done for tonight. Good nite, and Good luck to all.

I'm not down on Romo or most of the players because it comes from the top down... no team chemistry & bad dicipline = inconsistant play. Now I do blame the players for not playing with any heart on Sunday but the blame goes to the coaches as well... I mean what do fans expect when the coaching staff is in shambles and the team/players have no leadership. The players had an inconsistant up and down season but even when I was mad at the players in general for not playing with heart or desire I ALWAYS was down on our coaching staff the whole season, even when the Cowboys won. Camp Cupcake NEEDS TO GO!!!

I was hoping that the Cowboys could get lucky and sneak into the Playoffs this season but I did expect them to lose to the eaGALS... just not this badly

I think we all see problems in a lot of the players we have, but mostly in the coaching staff.

It starts at the top, and I think most of us believe that if we had an organized tough (not mean but tough) coach who demanded respect (but wasn't an *** about it) I think we all feel this cast of players could be super bowl caliber.

But since it doesn't seem like Jerry is going to make a change there, people are going the next route and throwing certain players they personally don't like, and throwing them under the bus.
