Why are so many players under contract trying to come to Dallas?

I don't know that I've ever seen a similar situation where all these players that are under contract with other teams are aggressively trying to to be traded to one. So far this year there's been Roy Williams, Chad Johnson, Pacman Jones, and Deangelo Hall which have all tried to get traded to Dallas.

I figure there are a few obvious reasons - the Cowboys are very good right now, and they are the Dallas Cowboys, but is there something else going on here? Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

It happens often when a team is viewed as a legit contender. TV exposure means a lot too.

No one wanted to come here in the Campo years unless they were a lifelong Cowboys fan. That's the nature of the beast.

I agree, JP. Maybe JJ can find a way to get compensation for these players throwing around the Cowboys' name! I think they're using Dallas to try to up their value to the rest of the NLF!

There's a combination of factors. Dallas being a team on the rise and playing for a ring is one part but the exposure as far as pro bowls, endorsements, etc is also a factor. Add in that Dallas has shown a willingness to take on somewhat "at risk" players recently and the money that's going to be floating around with the new stadium and it's easy to see why Dallas would be a spot for some of them (Williams seems more like a homecoming).

They want to because EVERYONE wants, or wanted to be, a Cowboy at some point in their life. Why do you think Eagles and Commanders fans hate the Boys so much? Cause they really wanted to be a Cowboy when they were kids and learned at an early age they just weren't worthy. ;)

1. Chance to get to a SB

2. Chance to play for a guy who is known as a player's coach, Wade

3. Chance to play with a team that has young talent at all the key positions except the ones they play :)

4. Chance to play for an owner who has a reputation for being loyal and fair with his players.

5. Maybe they've also seen the pictures of the new stadium

6. They also hear the talk about an uncapped year...if there ever is an uncapped year, you'd rather be in Dallas with Jerry Jones than in most of the other smaller market teams.

There just isn't anything better than being a Cowboy, except maybe owning them.:D

I have no idea what your talking about. Campo never coached for us. At least that's what I've convinced myself. Don't crush my fantasy world.

There are so many Cowboy fans that if a player plays anything close to Pro Bowl level... he gets enough fan votes to make it to Hawaii. We are fiercely loyal fans and can be somewhat biased when it comes time to vote on the Pro Bowl.

I really do think there's a chance that players look at that and know how important a Pro Bowl bearth can be to contract negotiations. I'm sure that's not the biggest reason they want to come to Dallas, but I bet they think about it.

Primarily, I'd say that it's like everyone has already mentioned in the above posts... a young team on the rise with a franchise QB (very rare these days) and an owner who is known to take care of his own.

Plus, Wade is a player's coach who the athletes like to work with.

You're right, it's almost like a disease this year. However I remember other players pandering to be Cowboys in the past. Cory Dillon, Willis McGahee (before the draft) right off the top of my head. But not as many in one off-season that's for sure.

Along with all of the other reasons mentioned above, it can't be discounted that the players who are now in the league grew up in the early 90's when the Cowboys were the top team. So... many of their childhood dreams of being an NFL superstar and winning Super Bowls were associated with being a Dallas Cowboy.

Don't forget no state income tax...
Dallas, Seattle(it rains a lot), Miami(1-15), Tampa Bay(you want me to wear pewter?), Jacksonville(no love from the league) have no state income tax.

Tennessee(will refrain from any jokes because we have some great members here from that state; but it's not a glitzy area for your typical NFL athlete and slightly different musical tastes there) only taxes dividends and interest.

Oh of course, that goes without saying. I;m a Commanders fan only because the Cowboys rejected my application.
