Pacman and Vick? I am curious. Some people here are willing to bend logic and common sense out the yang to find ways for these guys to be innocent and not thugs. When clearly they are both NOT innocent (at least of thuggery, anyway) and deserve not only disrepute but more then likely long suspensions. Their whole attitude and actions over a period of YEARS have convicted them. Yet some here badly want it otherwise. Why is that?

For me personally, I just want to see all the facts of Vick's case.

We don't have all of them yet. We don't know Vick's defense yet either. I just want to see both sides before I make up my mind, that is all.

Dadgummit. Two years as a member, and I wasted my 100th post on Michael Vick and PacMan Jones. I coulda been talking Cowboys, but nooooooooooooo. I had to respond to another thread beating a dead horse.

Oh, my goodness. Is Vick now being accused of beating dead horses? That can't be good for him.

Taking responsibility for your own actions seems to be foreign to some folks nowadays, and they love to try to bend the law to fit their deceitful purposes. But ironically these folks want the Commish to take responsibility for his actions, and he's trying to do what's right. They make the perp into the victim and the punisher into the perp.

Apparently, he has a cage deathmatch horse fighting ring on his property that he rents to his Uncle's Aunt's ex-step-son's best friend. When the horses don't fight, they beat them.

I have seen a few defend Jones, Henry and Vick. Very few. I have seen several just try to understand the system. Everything is kind of new, so there is no familiarity on how things are supposed to work.

To me there does not appear to be a straight set of rules as to how these suspensions are being administered. Looks more like a case by case basis. That is fine with me.

Henry I believe has been charged with misdemeanors. I could be wrong about that, but I think Goodell had enough info to make a ruling on Henry.

Although Pacman hasn't been found guilty of any of the things he has done, he has broken NFL rules by hiding his involvement in two charges. That was enough for Goodell to do something.

As for Vick, the dog fighting thing is just still too open to pass judgement at this point. There is not enough for the authorities to make a move on Vick. How is Goodell supposed to make one? Things will play out. And when I say pass judgement, I am not defending Vick. I think there is enough out there for Vick to come across looking bad in my eyes. Legally however is a different story.

It may seem that Goodell has been ruling above the law, but his rulings have followed those of the legal world and/or existing NFL rules. The only difference between him and previous commisioners is the lengths of the suspensions.

Goodell is willing to drop the hammer seriously. that is the main difference.

Because many are sympathetic to, or secret admirers of, the sport. Either that or they have a very elastic view of personal liberty. Sad, really.

It's quite possible that this is completely false. It's entirely rational to think something is atrocious yet, at the same time, not believe that it should be illegal.

I think eating your own (or another's) poop is disgusting. I think you're a sicko if you do it. But I don't think it should be illegal. Eat poop if you like.

Of course, you're probably going to think I secretly admire poop-eaters now.

But maybe I do....

The truth comes out...poopy face. :laugh2: Just kidding.

I can see the devils advocate side of it. I can see individual freedoms side of it.
But we must distinguish between what is legal and illegal AND we must also distinguish between crimes and punishment in the normal world vs punishment in the NFL.
