Why are the DB's getting so much blame?

Look no further than the pass rush to explain the lackluster performance. The Cowboys went against a line that had been struggling and allowed Campbell to get comfortable in the pocket.

We don't always get the pressure we should but I think we get after the QB pretty good. I'd put more of that problem on the players talent levels in the secondary. And right now some of it is Henry is not at his best.

The D-front looked bad today. Or the skinz looked very good. The combination always makes the secondary look bad. T-New did get the big pick when he absolutely had to though. Reeves is really getting a baptism of fire and that will continue through to the end of the boys season.

The pass rush is way too inconsistent the only guy i see giving it all is D-Ware

Spears is no where near the play maker we hoped for..

I really think Spencer needs his starting spot back because the typical Greg Ellis late season swoon is about to begin.

Spears and Canty come out during obvious passing downs. They play the run and the occasional pass when a team changes up. The 2 DEs in the 3-4 have very little pass rush responsibility and they are taken out. Think 3-4 DE as 4-3 DT.

Burnett kept Campbell jumping around when he was in.

I agree. There was no pressure all day. Campbell had ALL day to throw.

On a side note though, those 3rd and 10 and 3rd and 15's where they bring 7 and drop 4 have got to stop. Campbell had all day and found wide open targets. That was getting me really irritated.

this is why I NEVER want to take the ball first at home...I mean why? Campbell never felt uncomfortable all day....the last thing you want to do against a young QB is go into a prevent and let him establish a rhythm. And I knew he was not going to go away all game because he got into a rhythm. I was hoping we would put our defense on the field....hit him in the mouth on the first drive...and make his head spin. The pass rush was dreadful. just dreadful. Make up your mind Wade...if you are going to rush 4 then you better be able to cover with 7. If you realize you cannot cover with 7...then send more guys and make the QB get rid of the ball quicker....we did neither and he had all day and EVERYONE wants to blame the secondary.

Why would you want your opponent to have the ball more times than you do? The point is to limit your opponent's possessions, not give them more.

Reeves had another good game.

Other than the 17 yard slant to start the 3rd, and the one-handed catch on the go route, Reeves didn't give up anything big.

No TD's. No big Plays.

Our problems were with the Roy/Hamlin and the nick/dime packages.

I actually thought we got pretty good pressure on him today. He made some raelly nice throws going backwards and with someone right in his face. While, I agree that the middle of our d seems to be open he probably played his best game as a pro yesterday. We were all over him most of the day.

The Skins were max-protecting a great deal and we were playing a soft zone underneath... bad combination.

Moss ate Reeves lunch several times but Campbell made some bad throws. Reeves seems to be regressing.

i still cannot fathom not putting Ware on the other side so he could rush against a 3rd string RT instead of Samuels. Once it was obvious Ellis could not get the job done, the switch should have been made.

good post. I've been saying this for years (with others) that DB's can only do so much.....no this isn't an excuse for our poor secondary play lately. But
Ware needs some help: Ellis looked tired yesterday. The front seven better pick it up with G.Bay on the horizon.
