This is just as rare as the Cowboys rooting for the Eagles to win against the Green Bay. And don't take this out of perspective, ...it's Not Like we want the Cowboys to win -- we really want the G-men to lose.
Why? Because, taking your loss into consideration -- if the G-men had won that last game against Seattle (and they should have won that game on three different occasions), they would have been dangerously close to walking away from the NFCE pack.
With a win, the G-men could have been 8-3; clearly at the top. Instead, they are 7-4 and have the remaining teams to keep them at bay ...or not:
Worst case scenario in remaining games ...
The G-Men 7-4
Cowboys (in NY)...a loss would make the G-Men 7-5
Eagles (in Philly) ...a loss makes the G-Men 7-6 (Dallas 8-5)
Chiefs (in NY) ...loss ...7-7 (or 8-6 if they beat Dallas)
Skins (in DC) ...loss ...7-8 (or 8-7 if they beat...as)
Raiders (in Oaktown) ...loss...7-9 (or 8-8 if they beat...
The Cowboys are 7-4http://www.giants.com/gameday/boxscore.asp?game_id=388157http://www.giants.com/gameday/boxscore.asp?game_id=388176WORST CASE SCENARIO in remaining games...
G-men (at their house); a loss makes Dallas at 7-5 (or 8-4 if ...)
Chiefs (your house); a loss would place Dallas at 7-6 (or 8-5 if...)
Skins (in DC); if you win ...but--a loss makes Dallas at 7-7
Panthers (at their house); no predictions ...but "if" ...Dallas at 7-8
Rams (unpredictable, even at your house) ...7-9 ...
So, from that glib picture you can see that right now, the team to stop is the Giants. The NFCE is fro from being dominated, but two teams are definitely out in front ...at least for now.
Go (cough, sneeze, cough, cough) Cowboys! Forvthe record, I never said I like you to win ...I do want the Giants to lose.
