Why are we better on the road?

3-3 this year on the road despite everything.

1-5 at home, including Romo's only loss.

Follows a pattern.

Garrett 13-4 on the road vs NFC East in his tenure, horrible at home.

I do not get it.

I've been to the stadium and think it's waaaaay to distracting even for the players. I've seen the players watch the big tv screen instead of focusing on the field. It's just my opinion but it's hard to concentrate in the stadium. It's a freaking circus.

i dont buy that. us fans? yes. i visited for the first time this year and its amazing to say the least. if anything itd be more distracting for opposing teams, not ours.

To be perfectly honest with you....from the telecast........it seems like our road games are like home games and our home games are like road games. I hear far too many cheers for opposing teams at our home and there are some games on the road where we straight take over a stadium.

I visited AT&T for the first time this year. There is NO home field advantage. There were literally like 2 fans cheering in my section and the visiting Seahawk fans were outnumbered maybe 8-1, but were almost as loud as Cowboy fans.

I've always found it easier to work on the road than at home. Get away from the office, distractions, most of the corporate structure, and just concentrate on the job. Could be it is that simple for Tony as well.

Seems like the NFL and the transient nature of fans have created some interesting situations. For a Cowboy season ticket holder, you can recoup some money (and may be alot) by selling tickets to home games. If at a premium, maybe enough to pay for a trip to NY, Miami, etc and see a road game on a vacation. For other teams, vice versa. All the NY transplants in Dallas may only get to see their team once per year and will pay up to do so locally.

I doubt this trend will reverse itself anytime soon

I think teams just get up to play big games, and the Dallas games in Dallas are big games. For many teams, it's probably their highest viewership, and traveling there to play in the big show brings out the best in the opposition. When you play as many close games as we do (because our defense has been so bad under Garrett), it only takes an offensive play or two from the visiting team to make the difference.

Yet our offense has been stellar under Garrett? :muttley:

Now Idgit, that was a fantastic agenda shot! :D

The offense had to be rebuilt when he first took over, but we've covered many times how effective it's been on a points/series basis under Garrett, yes. Don't let's get carried away by the fact that people complain about the adjustments and they play calling reflexively. If you look at the actual production, the offense has outperformed the defense during his tenure by a wide margin.

What ever the stats are do not tell the definitive story. How many times do you think NE has rebuilt its offense since 2001 (Troy Brown, R Moss, C Dillon, L blount, Edelman)? How about Indy(E James, M Harrison, R Wayne, etc)? Pitt (Bettis, Ward, A Brown, L Bell). GB? You dont have to rebuild if you have franchise QB. Your QB will usually keep you competitive and score points and get yards.

You dont see those stats without Romo. Of course you didnt see those stats in Indy without Manning. So there is no measurable way to fully attribute the offense to Garrett, conversely, you can attribute most production to Romo.

it is tempting to blame Garrett for everything bad that happens and I have defended him at times. I will not defend him on this issue. HE MUST COACH THE TEAM BETTER TO WIN OUR HOME GAMES, NO MATTER HOW MANY DISTRACTIONS THERE ARE. This is on him. We cannot give anyway this many games that we should/can win at home.
