Why can’t you cut Cooper and sign Green Bay WR Adams?

Sure, that's great. But do you think swapping out WRs is going to make a big difference? I don't. But it might be cheaper for cap purposes.

Cooper would be a 22 million cap hit and a 6 million dead cap. So even if they paid Adams more than Cooper, the first year of his contract probably wouldn't be more than 16 million. So that move would probably save a few million in cap space.

Lol...thats funny. Adams to give up working with competent coaches?? Not hardly. If Adams calls up Coop, he will get the 411 and go the opposite direction.

That has become an issue with Dak. Those stretcher passes need to stop. Thankfully the safeties can’t unload on receivers like they used to or some may be sipping soup out of a straw for the rest of their lives. Ronnie Lott would have feasted.

well cooper's deal was really structured so the cowboys can get out in 2 years. his dead cap is 6M and his cap hit is 22M....we can probably structure a deal for Adams that would be equal to the 22M for cooper or even less in his first year of the contract.

It doesn't matter if we signed Jerry Rice in his prime... Dak is still the QB.

Not to change the topic but I would rather cut Dak and give Rodgers that money.

Devonte Adams is going to get more than 20M per...

He is the best WR in the league at this point.

Having said that, I would gladly swap Cooper's 20M for 25M to Adams.

The Cap Hit to keep vs cut Cooper:
    Keep: 22M
    Cut: 6M

    Difference: 16M

Not really. It's only a 6M cap hit to cut Cooper.

Follow the 49ers model. Good defense and run the ball. Which means the line needs to be beefed up big time.

You save 16m cutting Cooper. The dead money bit was immaterial to the argument. The problem is that after you cut Cooper and make a the cuts and reworks you need to make to get under the cap if you then sign Adams you are now out of money to spend in free agency and still have a swiss cheese roster with a defense that has 1 decent player in each layer and then nothing else. Instead of spending all your free agency money on one big player and hoping the holes in the team are not a factor, the Cowboys are better served signing 3 average starters so that good teams cannot exploit the massive weaknesses in the roster.

I think that Rodgers only showed up to play for GB this year because they committed to trading him in 2022 if he still wants to be traded.

Big ego guys that have not won as much as expected are always going to assume that it's someone else's fault.

Rodgers sees himself as better than Brady but held back by the Green Bay franchise.

He wants to go to a team that will give him carte blanche where he can choose the Head Coach and players.

There are probably 16+ teams that would give him what he wants.

The 49ers beat GB with Jimmy Garoppolo at QB.
    - Imagine what they would do with a legit NFL QB (Rodgers)...

Rodgers is gone. He already said he didn’t want to be part of a rebuild.

Maybe stop wasting resources on a pass game that goes into a shell against good teams?

That’s the only way for this current team. They HAVE to get better in the trenches.

Not really. If Adams would sign for 20M AAV, then it's only a one time, 6M cost to make the change.

I expect Adams to get more than 20M, but probably not more than 24M on a long term contract.

    DeAndre Hopkins: 2-years, $27.25 APY
    Julio Jones: 3-years, $22M APY

I think Hopkins is only that much because it was a 2 year deal.

It would basically cost the Cowboys 1 mid-level player that they can't re-sign.

On many snaps, the 49ers had 2 defenders completely dedicated to covering Adams.
    - When he gets single coverage, Rodgers just throws him the ball even when the DB has the leverage advantage.

I'm not normally an advocate of signing free agent to mega-contracts, but in this situation with Cooper already at 20M, the extra cost seems well worth it.

Having said that, Adams is unlikely to sign with the Cowboys while Cooper is on the roster.
    - The Cowboys are unlikely to not have Cooper on the roster unless they have a replacement signed.

We'll worry about finding a #1 receiver in 3 years when we can get a real QB in here.

Right, and then when Dak can't get the ball to Adams, he's a bum.

You think Moore would use Adams like a #1 WR?

Moores philosophy is to aggressive take what the defense gives us….of course the D is gonna give you Cedric Wilson so he has more targets than Coop and Lamb.
