Why can't Cowboys be beast of NFC east again?

I'm not buying the Eagles hype, as well. I think Foles hasn't really shown anything, he didn't throw too many picks last year, but he takes a ton of sacks for it. This year, teams will scheme to take away what he likes to do; he's not a all around, complete quarterback. Their receivers are average and not a notch above. Teams are going to focus on taking McCoy out of the game. We usually contain him pretty well, but that's usually because of Lee.

I think anyone outside of the Giants can win the division. That's not boasting the teams, it's a knock on how weak the division really is. RGIII, in my opinion, has played his best NFL career year already. He's gonna remain injured and they are going to keep their best quarterback on the bench(Cousins).

It's a bad division and all the teams are flawed, so maybe the Boys can win it,,,, but based upon what ive seen and read this preseason I'd put Dallas as 2nd/3rd best with Philthy on top. Their D is obviously better and their offense is at least as good as Dallas'.

One day we're so deep into rebuilding we'd be lucky to win 8 games, the next we're going to be Beasts of the East.

It's so confusing.

Why? You have your own opinion, don't you?
I know you do because I tend to agree with them.

After watching the preseason games so far, I have to say:

Eli and the Giants are going to be really bad. Maybe worse than last year. What has happened to Eli anyways? He looks real uncomfortable in new scheme. Oline is going to be an issue. I'd be surprised if they were better than .500. Coughlin will be looking for a job next year.

Fact: Romo threw 31 TD's last year. That matches Eli's best year since he was drafted.

Washington may be the most improved team. Their defense always gives Dallas fits. I was hoping Hasslet would have been let go with previous regime. But RG3 is going to get hurt again. You can see it coming.

Fact: Commanders only Superbowl wins came in strike shortened seasons and should have an asterisk next to them noting such. I hate the Skins so much, I'm going to use their Native American offending name all year. Take that Phil Simms.

Philadelphia's defense does not look much improved over last year, and Dallas had success playing ball control against them in both games. Foles release is slow and he's going to take sacks. He's also going to miss Jackson more than you think. Jackson drew double coverage. If Shady goes down the party is over. They're also the media's chosen ones after barely winning the division against a team with a backup QB and no defense. Too much added pressure.

Fact: Chip Kelly had previously never as a head coach had a team keep him out of the end zone for an entire half of football until the Cowboys did it in Philly last year..

I need a love button. The part about using "the offending name" cracked me up.

I can see how things could go south if Romo got hurt, but I don't for a minute buy that we're some 5-11 team talent-wise. Yeah, our D stinks, but our O should be elite and more than make up for it.

And our division is lousy, which helps.

I've been thinking the exact same thing.

Cowboys had MASSIVE injuries to there front seven, gave up a gazillion points yet lost six games by a combined seventeen points and only one game in the division by two points to the "best" team in the division. The same team who they slapped around in there yard.

If the Cowboys can keep the injuries to a respectable level and Romo away from the neurosurgeon they win 9-10 games and take the division.

We could definitely win the East, locally they are talking about how bad the Eagles defense has looked too in pre-season.

That said, all 4 of these teams are vying for which one gets the honor to be swatted out of the 1st round. Even if he offense lives up to the hype, this D is not taking us anywhere in the playoffs, and I can say the same for the rest of the NFCE.

The NFC East is not strong this year and I believe the Cowboys have a great shot to be in contention for the division title right down to the end of the season.

As always it seems.

That would be 4 years running. Maybe they actually make it this time.

This is like asking, "Why can't my team win the championship this year?" Because 31 other teams are probably also thinking, "Why can't my team win the championship this year?"

So, "Why can't the Cowboys be the beast of the East?" Because 3 other teams are probably also thinking, "Why can't my team be the beast of the East?"

No way we sweep the division. That's incredibly hard to do even for NE.

We aren't NE so that doesn't apply. Had Romo played the last game we sweep the division last year. Not far fetched if Romo stays healthy, no team has improved more then the other

Its a wide open division. I get a kick out of analysts saying the Cowboys can't win the division because of their defense. As if anyone in this division has a defense. Cowboys however do IMO have the best offensive personnel. Its going to come down to coaching. I don't think Garrett no longer has the excuse of being a new head coach. Either he succeeds or gets fired this year. I think he understands that and I think he's ready to be a legit coach now on the field.

I can see us being 5-11 and I can see us being 11-5. It all comes down to whether or not the offense plays up to their potential and if the Cowboys are going to get in their own way again.

What doesn't apply? The concept of sweeping a "weak" division?
