I'm not worrying. The point is we have less to worry about than usual. Our free agent insurance policy may not be necessary.
You know..

Beasley mystified me leaving like he did with all his grumbling.

The Cowboys literally made his career and you would have thought he would try to stay.

I bet at his cap number he will be cut after his second season in Buffalo.

They will never pay him all his money.

He is always injured and disappears for long stretches in games.

I guess he needed to go.

Beasley has missed a total of one game the last five years.
And had a catch all but one game over that span.

If he's a new player to the Cowboys people go out their way to make them seem good(someone claimed Iloka was better than Eric Weddle)
If they leave the cowboys people go out of their to criticize them.
It's sad.

Cobb, Pollard, Hurns and (who knows who) will get their chances to shine at the slot. May the best man win! Will Austin get cut? We'll see.

Older players usually don't finish their contracts. Beasley got 14mil guaranteed. The guaranteed money is the number that matters. Good haul for a WR his age.

Butler, Dez, and Beasley have all bad mouthed Linehan after leaving. And we fired him. Apparently, we think they had a point.

One thing to consider .... Cooper becomes more dangerous by making him more difficult to locate because of Cobb’s versatility to move around in a formation. You can line up Cobb anywhere.

Beasley is a one trick pony, he almost exclusively operates out of the slot. Cobb makes the receiving core more versatile as a whole.

Cobb's yards per target have been "slowed down" for 4 years now.

and Cole numbers have slipped in the last 2 years and is getting paid much more than Cobb. Dallas main targets are Cooper and Gallup but I do think Cobb can contribute both as a slot as well as an outside WR. His biggest problem is not lack of talent it is injuries namely hamstring issues

Now do yards per *target*.
Except for 2017, when Beasley was the guy getting doubled, Beasley was better on yards per target, and significantly.

Yards/Target Career:
Cobb...... 8.2
Beasley.. 7.3

Looking at Target Data and grouping by 4 year periods in their careers
Years 1-4, 2-5, 3-6 and 4-7, Cobb is better in all of them.

Cobb
Year Start...... 1
Year End........ 4
Targets........... 309
Yards/Target.. 9.87
Yards............. 3049

Beasley
Year Start...... 1
Year End........ 4
Targets........... 202
Yards/Target.. 7.19
Yards............. 1452

Cobb
Year Start...... 2
Year End........ 5
Targets........... 407
Yards/Target.. 8.61
Yards............. 3503

Beasley
Year Start...... 2
Year End........ 5
Targets........... 276
Yards/Target.. 7.82
Yards............. 2157

Cobb
Year Start...... 3
Year End........ 6
Targets........... 387
Yards/Target.. 8.16
Yards............. 3159

Beasley
Year Start...... 3
Year End........ 6
Targets........... 285
Yards/Target.. 7.38
Yards............. 2103

Cobb
Year Start...... 4
Year End........ 7
Targets........... 432
Yards/Target.. 7.82
Yards............. 3379

Beasley
Year Start...... 4
Year End........ 7
Targets........... 323
Yards/Target.. 7.29
Yards............. 2355

Cobb
Year Start...... 5
Year End........ 8
Targets........... 366
Yards/Target.. 6.76
Yards............. 2475

Beasley
Year Start......
Year End........ No 8th year yet.
Targets...........
Yards/Target..

These are the last 4 years for both. Beasley better by over half a yard.

More importantly, since Beasley is not really the point here, Cobb's number is crap. And last year was double crap, at 6.3.

Taking Cobb's past four years into account, instead of just his most recent, worst, and *oldest* year, a year younger than he will be for us this year, his yards per target now manages to beat out all of one of our returning receivers from last year, Rico's. Four years ago Rico was a college basketball player in college.

*All* our returning TEs and WRs beat Cobb in yards per target last year. Even Rico and Noah.
He gets 40+ yards per game, but the efficiency per target was poor, and even his yardage totals have been consistently sliding for years.

People are talking like he's a lock for the team, and I don't see it in these numbers. He looks like a Nolan Carroll. We signed thinking to cover ourselves, but don't have to stick with him if other guys are panning out.

I'm hoping they get a discount out of Hurns and use him as our slot possession WR.

Cobb has been declining for the last few years. I doubt he will do anything more than continue to decline, but since he came to Dallas, posters around here seems to think he is at the top of his game. Go figure.

Beasley is the player that Cobb is replacing.

To make your case, you would have to claim that Beasley has never been good enough if Cobb is not good enough.

Here are the numbers for the past 2 years:

Cobb
Year Start......
Year End........
Targets........... 153
Yards/Target.. 6.77
Yards............. 1036

Beasley
Year Start...... 2017
Year End........ 2018
Targets........... 150
Yards/Target.. 6.57
Yards............. 986

Here are Edleman's numbers:
Year ….. Y/T
2009 ….. 6.65
2010 ….. 6.14
2011 ….. 3.78
2012 ….. 7.34
2013 ….. 6.99
2014 ….. 7.25
2015 ….. 7.86
2016 ….. 6.96
2018 ….. 7.87
Career Y/T….. 7.2

Nope. Cobb wasn't signed to be Beasley. He was signed to be Cobb. Who has been mediocre for years.

The stats just don't show that!

Edelman and Beasley have not been crap and Cobb's stats fine relative to both of them.

You just over-stated your criticism of Cobb. It happens.

If you want to just be a typical message board poster that can't admit being wrong, that's fine, but other posters would respect your future opinions if you just go ahead and admit that you over-stated it.
