So...If we released Morgan to sign Price...why didn't we officially sign him?

Welcome. You'll like it much better here. You don't have to sift through all the politcal B.S. and other off-topic to find Cowboys' discussions.

I rarely visit DMN anymore.

Okay...tough crowd here. :)

So there hasn't been ANY concern or interest about how Price is going to get on the field?

I suppose there were committments both ways, and that there was a paper signed. But for several days, there was some major concern about how to get him on the field without sacrificing another player, namely special teams. I must have dreamed that.

Seems if you drop Morgan, you sign price and get him on the field. I was wondering why we couldn't/didn't do that.

Hpefully, that makes sense?

OH, oj much more sense, the reason we cant do that is because of Crayton, He has done so well, and has the best hands on the team, and BP doesnt want to lose him just for price

does that help you out?

Actually, the main reason Price didn't get on the field for San Diego was because he only signed a few days before that game and could not learn enough of the playbook to justify taking up a roster spot on game day. This week he should be activated but his playing time may be limited.

Sorry, no. I knew that Crayton was going to contribute big.

We HAD 4 receivers. We dropped one (Morgan), and....

So...who or what roster spot prevented the instantaneous insertion of Price into the rotation?

Maybe better questions:

1) why are we having roster concerns? Special teams...yes? Why?

2) What is Price's role? Actually...how are all the receivers going to fit in?

I know...I need some practice on this. HAven't posted on a Cowboy forum for a long time.:

ONe you just cant stick a guy in a rotation, when he doenst know the playbook

two crayton Key and GLenn are stopping him from getting on the field,

three i really doubt this guy is a good ST guy, i dont think he has ever played ST

Price's role, is uncertain right now

We are having rosters concerns because we have more good quailty players, then we can play......which is a good thing.

I think mainly it came down to security and special teams. If one of our WRs got hurt Copper could step up in the rotation. He knows the plays. He also plays ST. Price would provide neither the insurance of a guy who knows the plays or ST contributions. So he couldn't dress. This week he should know more plays, and get a chance to play. Although I can't say that's a given because our ST surely can't afford to take a step back.

Personally I would have kept Crowder and cut Copper because from what I understand Crowder is better at ST.

True, but our top 3 WRs are head and shoulders above those below them on the depth chart. And our ST sure seems like our weakest link right now. So I'd rather skew the backups (those not likely to see real playing time at their official position) towards special teams. If we lost one of our starting 3 WRs we'd still have two quality starters and Witten to catch passes.

Crowder gets down there well on special teams....but he can't tackle yet. Copper is probably still the better STer.
