1. Brandon Carr who is being paid about 9 million per year, hasnt gotten any interceptions in over 2 years. Cowboys asked him to take a pay cut, like Doug Free did. Carr refused to take a pay cut, last year was excuse about his mother passing away, this year its about him working on his techniques but we all have seen the results, nothing. Added in that the cowboys have at times asked him to play zone, but he is better at jamming etc, still nothing. Jerry Jones needs to get into his face and demand more. This should have been written into his contract when first signed, either produce as a cornerback or take a pay cut.

2. Rolando McClain, didnt want to come in during offseason (the cowboys should have written into his contract to be there at offseason conditioning, not at home, thats on management, as above on Carr). Then McClain gets caught on drugs and has to sit out first 4 games, by this time he is out of conditioning. Results have been very obvious, Rolando production has been way down. Jerry Jones needs to get into his face and demand more.

3. It took the cowboys 8 games and preseason to get Lucky Whitehead ready to return kickoffs and punt returns. We have 2 special team coaches, evidently they havent done their job. So, we lose Dunbar because the coaching staff hasnt gotten whitehead ready yet on kickoffs. We dont have the money to resign wr harris, we sign mccray who hasnt produced on special teams since first game against the eagles.

4. We sign tyrone crawford to a big contract but where has been the production since? Granted I think he is injured more than we know but if not, then why isnt tyrone playing better?

5. Our fullback is late hitting the holes, hince mcfadden isnt get the blocks he needs. We need to find better ways to get out run blocking more schemes if clutts cant get the blocking done. Our coaching staff needs to get better scheme wise on this.

6. One obvious coverage play was having claborne playing as a safety and wilcox playing as cb,, this didnt work and allowed the eagles to keep driving on a key play. Added into this is poor play by wilcox, we have corey white who can play safety to, and patmon who can play cb, wilcox isnt getting the job done, and our cornerbacks arent getting the interceptions, our secondary coaches need to do a better job, coaches Jerome Henderson and Joe Baker havent been doing their job, better schemes, more film study is needed by our cornerbacks and safeties. These backfield coaches must be made accountable.

7. Just one game till Romo is back, but our TE coach must work with Cassell and Witten more, Cassell hasnt been looking at our TE as much especially Witten, this must be corrected for the Tampa Bay game.

8. Whatever Linehan did in practice last week he must do more of, get more production out of Cassell and our offense.

9. Like one defensive lineman said after game, cowboys need to have closed meeting, demand more from players, air things out and discuss the issues above to a degree. Leaders have to step up and demand more. Players paid big money need to be held accountable if not producing.

Dont stand pat, make coaches accountable, get in their faces Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones, demand more.

I'm not sure a lot of players won't check out after this last game. But they did look a lot better than I thought they would offensively this game.. the d looked great in the 1st quarter lol. Eagles had a ton of problems the first time we played them though.

Nice post. I agree with all except Maybe #1.

I think the Carr contract is a boondoggle, however, I think he has been OK in pass coverage the past 3-4 games. I don't see his current play as a huge problem.

Great write up Joe. Agree on all points. Our high paid players they are not producing, I still think the FO needs to make the hard call and start cutting guys.

Well that's what I was going to bring up. I didn't think Carr was that bad and more importantly I don't think his play would change with or without a paycut. I have no problems with the corners here. Its their technique is what i'm not a fan of and all of them do it so I can't believe its the corners. They don't bump their receivers at all when they rarely do press......and they don't press enough. 10 yards off of your receiver just seems like you're asking to get beat constantly.

One thing that holds true is not getting more playing time to players that are making plays. How long is it going to take to get Irving on the starting defensive line? The guy made plays after plays last night. So why does it always take an injury for a young guy to get his shot?

I completely agree on the kudos for Joe...and I would add a real pride. This team shows no home field loyalties and although they may like other players, they aren't making any opponent pay for playing in Dallas. There, a shoot out is usually the course direction when a victory comes around.

Lovie: Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David haven’t been “good enough”

In last Sunday’s loss to the Giants, the Buccaneers saw wide receiver Mike Evans drop six passes from Jameis Winston that could have helped Tampa earn a more favorable outcome at the final whistle.

Evans wasn’t the only prominent player whose performance was deemed lacking. Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Lavonte David also failed to have the kind of impact that the team expects from them. Coach Lovie Smith doesn’t have the answer for why they were off, but agreed that they were.

“Lavonte is a great player. Same thing with Gerald,” Smith said, via the Tampa Bay Times. “I think you have to be careful when you just look at the stat sheet. But forgetting about the stat sheet, our play from both of those guys we would say it’s not good enough.”

David said he wasn’t frustrated by his performance and that he’s “just doing what I’m supposed to do.” McCoy, however, said that he knows he needs to do more as a “franchise player” on defense and that “the best players have to produce” for a team to be successful.

The Bucs are 3-5, but the Giants loss was the second loss in a row that felt like it could have gone Tampa’s way if they’d made a couple more plays over the course of the game. Evans, David and McCoy are players they need to make those plays the next time the opportunities present themselves.

Lovie just called out 2 of his players, jason garrett and jerry jones need to do the same, because you had better believe mccoy and david are going to be geared up for this game, and game was close till 4th quarter, so we have to be ready to play all 4 quarters.

Because the other team is scoring more points. It's really that simple...

Lovie Smith and Marinelli are cut from the same cloth.

Can't be anything other than they need to do better. It will come around.

Sound familiar?

With Romo, they're 6-2 at worst.

But they are not, so people really need to quit talking about it like it matters.

I really hope the players are not thinking like this.

They have to win the next three, or it's over. That should be their thinking.

I don't think it's ever helpful to criticise your employees in public. Those are team issues that should be handled in private, and in a way designed not to embarrass or ridicule, but to challenge. These guys have to stay solid and believe in each other, support each other, go to war together.

The battle is tough enough without people in your own organization sniping at you from all angles.
