To each their own and you should certainly quit watching if that is your stance, but I never got the universal dislike for all things ESPN. When I tune in to ESPN, it is for their documentaries like 30 for 30 or 9 for IX and their live coverage of games. I have always thought their work in these areas was well done. At the end of the day, I tune in to what I see and I simply don't watch the things I do not like in the same manner that I do every other channel. Works well, at least for me.

Winning trumps everything. That is all.

Well said and right on point. If we (including TRomo) start showing signs of being "elite" with playoff wins (not just clutch plays here and there), the press will come around and be forced to provide more positive coverage. There will always be a few knuckleheads with microphones that despite the Boys and I actually don't mind it esp. when they are proven wrong. I'll say this. I don't think it helps when our GM starts spouting off about how great we're going to be every year, only to consistently come up short. It starts getting old with the fans, the press and IMO the team and I hope JJ does not get bated into any Super Bowl talk before our season starts.

I kind of like the fact they call the Cowboys out and I will like it even better when the Cowboys prove them wrong.

In this day and age, why would anyone watch ESPN for Cowboy news? I get 1000 times more information here at this site than I could get at ESPN on the Cowboys. And it is all at my fingertips 24/7. We have videos, articles, and opinions all right here. Speaking of opinions, we got every type of opinion here ranging from eternal happy fan Cowboy fan to Jerry is the devil incarnate Cowboy fan. Heck, some of the nabobs of negativism here make ESPN commentators look like eternal sunshine pumping Cowboy fans in comparison.

And you can sit and dicuss (argue) to your hearts content here. So, unless you are a glutton for punishment, why go to ESPN? I will admit it is fun to go to ESPN after a Cowboy win to watch the haters suffer.

It is hard to argue with the fact that the Cowboys (including Romo) have what is coming to them. Start winning and it goes away.

National media coverage of the Cowboys is binary. When we're not a top contender, it's overwhelmingly negative. When we are, it's overwhelmingly positive in the opposite direction..

I guess it just goes hand in hand with being a Cowboys fan but this I hate, when we are down I dont care but when we win 2 or 3 games on a row they crown us. I cant stand that.

People need to understand what ESPN is. The channel is driven entirely towards casual fans who only care about headlines. If you want comprehensive coverage and actual analysis, you have to go elsewhere. I think you would be hard pressed to find a die hard fan who really thinks ESPN does a good job on actual analysis.

And fwiw, Jaws put Tony at 15 b/c he has failed in terms of the playoffs. I dont agree with it, but to think that that criticism is him being a "shock jock" or something is a stretch.

Great article. I don't watch ESPN except for live sporting events because of their negative bias towards Romo, Jones and the Cowboys in general. It's been like this even when they were winning. As a San Antonio Spur fan I also see the total disregard for that team until they reached the finals last year against Miami. They are a joke of a journalist outfit and teach ignorance to the masses who watch. Same type journalism as the likes of Fox News.

I'm not a big fan of any of the sports channels these days. Too much talking and not enough highlights.

Please don't tar and feather me when I say this, but the media bias angle is overblown, in my opinion. Media coverage on the Cowboys isn't positive because the results we've seen on the field of late are sub par. The two are directly related.

That excuse never explains the team getting constantly crapped on during the 2007 (13-3) and 2009 (11-5 with a playoff win) seasons. In fact, my signature was said by Steve Dennis in the 2009 season when the team was 8-5 and Dennis confronted Wade Phillips and got furious with Wade because Wade felt that we had a lot of winners on the team like Romo, Witten, Miles, etc. and Dennis made an entire scene at a press conference which was, if anything, flat out rude.

I don't watch ESPN unless a game is being televised or they are doing a 30 for 30. The rest of the network is boring, uninspired and predictable.

What astounds me is people quote blogs by fans as gospel and rail against the enterprises that do have reporters and inside contacts.

The LandryHat is a fan site. So their opinion I can get here from a half dozen other people who usually have more knowledge than the writers there.
Neiondeon from the CZ writes for the Landryhat.

Outside of some sports programming and those 30 for 30 shows, I just watch Mike and Mike in the morning... And in a pinch, I'll watching ESPNNews.

Everything else, I don't bother watching. It's not even about perceived Cowboys hate or whatever, I just don't particularly care for the format used on many of the sports networks. Not a big fan of folks debating manufactured stories with manufactured opinions.

My point was, you never know who you are insulting. Personally I find neiondeon to be pretty knowledgeable, and writers gotta start somewhere.

Wrong quote... but I agree with your point. I was actually throwing a dart towards TD3. He sometimes displays a high disdain for fan sites and fan bloggers.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

The truth hurts, doesn't it? Some Cowboys fans need to take off the blue tinted glasses and look at the organisation's performance from a "different" perspective.

One person's opinion doesn't mean they're necessarily offering up the truth. It's just an opinion. Good, bad, right, or wrong...it's all just an opinion.

That said, I like my blue-tinted glasses. I look fly in them.

I agree. However I will say it is all the different views even the negitive ones towards the Cowboys by the media that make it fun. If everyone was signing the prasies of the Cowboys it would get boring quickly. It is the job of the Cowboys to prove the critics wrong.
