Why did Jerry choose Schotty over Vrabel and Johnson?

There is no possible logical explaination that Jerry could attempt to give for why Schotty was the best hire over Ben Johnson and Vrabel. There just isn't.

He just wanted a coach that he could push around and would be thrilled to just have the job.

Yeah Dak is the answer. I don’t think it’s to keep him happy per se but it is make sure he doesn’t have to learn a new offense so we keep it running at a high level. We have had a lot of good offenses, so it’s hard argue with this aspect of it at least.

Jerry hires HCs based on who makes him feel comfortable. He is uncomfortable with any HC who could possibly outshine him or take away any of his coveted “credit”.

Sean Payton would have done a great job if given power, just look at the Broncos under him . Heck , Quinn reached the CCG in his 1st year after leaving the cowboys. Jerry is clueless . Even hiring aikman would have made a difference , but jerry hates not being the alpha in every room.

Aden Durde never coached college football and coached our D-line for a few years. He doesn’t know Xs and Os compared to Zimmer and Eberflus. Yet he has transformed Seattle’s defense into a top-10 defense.

Ben Johnson was never an option. Vrabel i assume wasn’t the player friendly coach they had in mind. I’m not a fan of Vrabel but you can’t argue against the job he’s done.

The only "option" was to find a Dak-fixer...which of course...only Professor X can do. The man is a choker...anyone who watched almost every QB compete this weekend can see this clearly. He doesn't belong with them WHEN IT MATTERS.

Vrabel is a Patriots guy in the same way Schottenheimer is a Cowboys guy. Same with Eberflus. The problem is looking like the Dallas coaching tree doesn't bear fruit.

Schottenheimer is NOT a "Cowboys guy"...he's a Jones guy...sorta like Romo was his QB, but not in our tradition of great QBs.

Our coaches are more like Landry and Johnson - maniacally-driven, intense, winners who brook no weakness - and Schotty is more like his father...

Not build a team around a choker. Find a coach with a brain and personality - ala Johnson - and make the QB live up his standards. But the "let's prop Dak up" approach to building a team is a losing one...OBVIOUSLY.

We have an insecure, egotistical owner who will never, ever hire the kind of top caliber, strong-minded coach needed to lead men all the way to the Lombardi trophy. Jerry just wants his comfortable yes men who will never, ever step on his sensitive little toes in any way.

Last off season, many of us wanted Mike Vrabel or Ben Johnson for head coach. But Jerry gave us Schotty instead.

Less than 1 year later, Vrabel and Johnson are now 2-0 in the playoffs, while Schotty never did anything to earn a head coaching gig in the first place.
