Exactly!!!! He's been here a few years with Dak Dak said yeah so did Jerry lolThis!!! When people say "Dak is hardly the issue"....this is the kind of stuff they ignore!!!
Jerry did not like sitting on the sideline listening.Because Jerry long ago stopped hiring serious HCs based on who gives us the BEST chance to win. He doesn’t even interview them.
Jerry hires HCs based on who makes him feel comfortable. He is uncomfortable with any HC who could possibly outshine him or take away any of his coveted “credit”.
We won’t have a seriously talented HC until he’s gone.

Because he wants to die a mediocre loser like he has been for the past 30 years.Last off season, many of us wanted Mike Vrabel or Ben Johnson for head coach. But Jerry gave us Schotty instead.
Less than 1 year later, Vrabel and Johnson are now 2-0 in the playoffs, while Schotty never did anything to earn a head coaching gig in the first place.
Oh what might have been…
Jerry did not like sitting on the sideline listening.
Perhaps Jerry did express an interest in Johnson and Vrabel and they told Jerry they were not interested in working for him. They both chose teams that had lost 13 games. They both, with 2nd year quarterbacks, flipped their teams into 13 win teams. This is really the only answer.
There is no possible logical explaination that Jerry could attempt to give for why Schotty was the best hire over Ben Johnson and Vrabel. There just isn't.
He just wanted a coach that he could push around and would be thrilled to just have the job.
yes plus I read that Ben his first choice was chicago, and he would only take another job if he couldnt get that one. It was the same with vrabel.Did Jerry have a legitimate shot at either? Just because you want a coach doesn't mean he's going to pick you if he has option. Vrabel got the opportunity to coach the team he played for with a young QB. Johnson got the opportunity to coach a team that had accumulated a lot of early-round talent, including a young QB.
Now, there was no reason for Jerry to not pursue them (if he didn't), but interest has to be two-sided.
That may be true, but I do think there are some coaches that would have gladly come here if the timing had been right. I think Sean Payton is one of those. Bill Belichick, too. Of course, Payton would have cost us some picks like he did the Broncos. And Belichick just wanted some NFL team to offer him HC job even though he had taken a college job. Both of those coaches, I believe, have a positive view of the Joneses.yes plus I read that Ben his first choice was chicago, and he would only take another job if he couldnt get that one. Plus with either of those you have a real GM and a owner that doesnt meddle and constantly do PC's lol.
Most coaches with another choice have no reason to work for jerry.
Posts like this make little sense to me. Coaches and player movement is very transactional. There are exceptions, but very few.Did Jerry have a legitimate shot at either? Obviously, every person wants to get paid as much as they can get paid, but coaches aren't stupid, they are also going to look for the best opportunity for success. Sure, if one team is throwing a lot more money at them than another, they are probably going to take the money. But unless there's a huge difference, a smart coach is going to take the best situation, and having a young first-round QB to build around is the best situation.Posts like this make little sense to me. The bigger bag wins the day and most every agent will tell you that.
Jerry can hire whoever he wants, but won't spend the money.
So, every interview he does talking about all he wants to do is win, know that is a total lie.
Doubt thatDAK!!!!! It's all about what made him happy
Certainly a factor but more he wants credit and proven HC woukd get the credit he desires instead of himcheaper
I think so. He was the first coach that Jerry respected enough to allow him (mostly) to build the team. Jerry also hadn't gone cheap in free agency yet, so he was willing to add players like Owens. Even though Owens may not have been a Parcells' pick, he signed off on it and also got to bring in multiple Friends of Bill and have a strong say in the draft direction. It's a shame Parcells was past his prime. He probably could've won with Romo and a couple more years to fix the defense properly.
The other two wanted some imput into how things need to be changed. Jerry felt intimidated and passed.Last off season, many of us wanted Mike Vrabel or Ben Johnson for head coach. But Jerry gave us Schotty instead.

LOL. Using your example, Dan Quinn's seat is hot. This will be his last year In DC when he finishes 3rd or worse in the East. This is why most take the money. It is unusual for a coach or player to take less money anywhere.Obviously, every person wants to get paid as much as they can get paid, but coaches aren't stupid, they are also going to look for the best opportunity for success. Fans get caught up with what Jerry will or won't spend, but I don't know if that has affected his ability to hire anyone. I think he just spend what it takes, so he's not going to make a coach like No-Schott one of the highest-paid head coaches when he's giving him his first shot at proving himself.
A better example might be Dan Quinn. He had an opportunity to leave for a head coaching job after his first couple of years here, but Jerry gave him a raise to stay and he waited. Now, part of the reason is he was waiting for the right opportunity, but Jerry rewarded him for both his loyalty and his success those first couple of years.
Not sure what Quinn being on a hot seat has to do with what I said. I agreed that if there is a vast difference in the money, then coaches (like players) are going to follow the money. But coaches also consider each situation. Quinn, again, is an example of this. He had head coaching opportunities after his second season in Dallas, but returned to the Cowboys because he got a raise and he didn't think those opportunities were the best. According to reports, he was offered the Carolina Panthers head coaching job but elected to stay in Dallas. Now, I can't say whether he got offered more money to stay in Dallas or more to be Carolina's head coach.LOL. Using your example, Dan Quinn's seat is hot.
