Why didn't We Resign Rico Dowdle?

Easy one.....Rico played against our defense and nobody buckled up or muscled up to show him different results.

Rico was a JAG here. He is a JAG on the Panthers who got the opportunity to play against the worst rushing defense in the league. You should not lose sleep letting go of JAGs.
Rico busted his *** and was infinitely more productive for infinitely less money than the fat POS that was propped up ahead of him. I would take a team full of JAGs like n Rico over plenty of the so called studs we cling to here.

Dowdle is tearing it up in Carolina, yet he’s making $1 million less than Javonte Williams. We’re also paying a washed-up Miles Sanders—who’s out for the year—$1.5 million.

Javonte Williams and Rico Dowdle would’ve been a great combo, and we could’ve had both for around $3.5 million a year.

The issue is our clueless front office—mainly Jerry, who has no idea how to build a football team.

The defensive mess is on him too. He should’ve hired Joe Whitt instead of bringing in the old, overrated Mike Zimmer, who didn’t fit the scheme. The smart move would’ve been paying Dan Quinn head-coach money to stay. But no—Jerry does the foolish thing.

I’m tired of this team not knowing how to build a real contender. If our owner would just stay out of football decisions, we’d be competing for the Super Bowl like the Eagles. But Jerry has to get in the way and mess things up.
I dont call him Jerry He doesnt deserve it to me hes Jerah. Dan Quinn is a very good coach but this game exposed our DL and LBs they put forth the effort but they lack talent. Carolinas OL and Rico were so much better. Not sure Dan Quinn would have been able get more out of them. He knew that thats why he left.

At the time the Cowboys were looking to sign Parsons and saving as much cap room as possible for that big contract. They thought they could get a RB as good or nearly as good as Dowdle for a lot less money. It was an economic decision.

I agree, hard working JAGs are good to have on your team. I don’t believe you sign a JAG RB to an extension. Hypothetically, you can replace them in draft, like we should have. We got lucky with Williams.

Javonte has been incredible and I would sign him all day every day but if you dont think Rico got a raw deal here and didnt deserve a contract then you have not been paying very close attention.
What’s the raw deal? What am I missing? Was he better than Zeke? For sure. Does that mean he should be signed? The bar was never Zeke.z

Reboot--- i too was very upset we did not resign Dowdle....i loved him coming out of college...it made no sense to move on from

Dowdle...even with lousy season last year Dowdle went over 1000...and Dowdle was not looking to get all-pro money....sometimes

i think Jerry likes the chaos to keep cowboys in the news regardless if it is Negative??...i could be wrong but i sincerely dont think

Jerry really cares...he turned his 140 million investment in 1989 into 12 billion...Mike Fisher said Jerry is first a supreme Marketeer

who happens to own an NFL franchise?....only thing that seems to make sense?

Rico had durability issues early in his career as a backup missing all of 2021 and all but 5 games in 2022. They weren’t going to give him what he wanted on the basis of one 1000 yard season.
Neither was anyone else precipitating his signing for 2.75m with the Panthers after we had signed Williams!

Rico wasnt good enough to make Dak look good .

Doubtful that any RB can make dak look good .

Why did they have Zeke playing over Rico?
Jerry had a large inventory of Zeke jerseys, (still with #21) so he wanted Zeke to start, thinking he is going to look decent and the jerseys will be sold out...Jerry literally pushed for Zeke.

Forget Rico, what you need to ask yourself is are all starting running backs coming up going to have games like this against this defense. After watching this game, the RB doesn’t need to be a pro bowl caliber RB or to rush for more than 150 yards against us.

Still surprise they held S. Barkley under a 100 yards, how did that happened.

Until we get a professional GM, this team is winning nothing of note in the post season.
29 straight years without a NFCCG appearance is a very large sample size.
