Why didn't We Resign Rico Dowdle?

Stacked the line as Hurts isn't a great passing threat.

I thought they would do that this game and make Young beat you. Let me rethink that again, we made Wilson look like the 3rd year Wilson and the bears QB look like Dan Marino, so with our secondary he would have burnt them too. Man this D is bad everywhere.

Youre getting the same thing with Williams…..this really isnt something to lose sleep over

And yes rico had 200 last week and 189 this week

Its a case of yay for him but lets not make this a big deal

I doubt Broncos fans are saying “where was this williams” or maybe they are idk
MIA has the worst run D in the NFL. We are 4th worst. MIA is giving up an average of 168 YPG rushing, so it's not like 200 was some great feat against them. We are giving up an average of 145 or so. Once again, his 180 vs us is par for the course.

Dowdy has sucked against every other team he's played against.

He didn’t get near as many carries AND his blocking was not as good in those other games.
Doodle is a dam good back when he gets some blocking.

Dowdle is tearing it up in Carolina, yet he’s making $1 million less than Javonte Williams. We’re also paying a washed-up Miles Sanders—who’s out for the year—$1.5 million.

Javonte Williams and Rico Dowdle would’ve been a great combo, and we could’ve had both for around $3.5 million a year.

The issue is our clueless front office—mainly Jerry, who has no idea how to build a football team.

The defensive mess is on him too. He should’ve hired Joe Whitt instead of bringing in the old, overrated Mike Zimmer, who didn’t fit the scheme. The smart move would’ve been paying Dan Quinn head-coach money to stay. But no—Jerry does the foolish thing.

I’m tired of this team not knowing how to build a real contender. If our owner would just stay out of football decisions, we’d be competing for the Super Bowl like the Eagles. But Jerry has to get in the way and mess things up.
BECAUSE YOU CANT SPELL?

He's playing good but I don't know if he is tearing it up. Last week he ran for 200 against the Dolphins. The Dolphins defense is pretty bad. This week he had over 200 all purpose yards against our defense, the worst in the league. Dolphins and Cowboys defenses will make any QB or RB look great.

I'm not disrespecting Rico but we have a HOF defense, meaning we make everyone look like a HOFer. Russell Wilson tore it up against us and then got benched when he went against real defenses.

same team drafted deuce Vaughn. someone told them RBs all had the same talent, so they filed that away in "Strategic Roster Moves"

You could have gained the yards Rico gashed us for. That's how bad this defense is. Nothing is going to change until a real GM in on the payroll!

Rico ran the ball 30 times to get those 183 yards ..

If the Jets' Breece Hall had run 30 times against us and maintained his YPC average, he would have gained 242 yards.

Now go look at all of the quarterbacks passing yards against the Cowboys.

We made Russell Wilson look like he was 10 years younger only to see him replaced a game or two later by a rookie QB after they played real defenses.

Rico's not a bad running back, but the Cowboys' defense definitely isn't the barometer for rating the performance of any offensive player this season.

Because he was mid here. And Javonte is better. Etienne would’ve ran all over us.
He wasn’t mid….had over 1k with a 4.6ypc and he did that avg on 235 carries, so it wasn’t some fluke like 4.6ypc on just like 34 carries…..he did it through a whole season.

Javonte in one game has more 20 plus runs and he touchdowns then he had all year. Hes just a guy. Or he was for us.
4.6ypc over 235 carries isn’t just a guy, it’s good….especially when we had Rush in at QB most of the season. For what he signed in Carolina for, we should have signed him for 3 years at that same rate…combined with this revamped line and much better oline and offensive coaching, he would do well again here.

As always, the Cowboys end up paying for their mistakes, like they did with not re-signing Rico. That might have been great if Rico were still there to be coupled with Lavonte Williams, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. The Dallas FO will forever look for what they deem as the cheapest way to conduct their business. Ultimately, it fails to work out, much to the dismay of their fans. Some things never change.

He went for over a 1000 last year in Tennessee and he’s about the same pace this year, and that’s with a worse line. What are you talking about?!?!
Rico literally had 1000 yards in less games and was a backup to Zeke. McFadden had 1000 yards here….1k rushing yards in a 16 or 17 game season is not the flex it once was.
