Why do people still think pick location matters?

Yeah, this makes no sense. Ya know when pick location doesn't matter? When your team just reached in the draft.
Yep. If we had drafted Sharif, we would not be hearing this theory.

Having said that, as an incorrigible draft optimist, I'm allowing myself to like this guy and focus on the fact we may finally have a good center.

Why is this so hard to understand? Why doesn't our FO understand this? We could have had a mid-level 1st round player, now we have 0 first round talent, a 2nd round player at best and a bottom 3rd round pick. Insanely stupid.

Prisco had Frederick going #24 to the Colts, so its not like he was universally considered a scrub.

Its coming out that most teams had him graded in the 20-40 range, which is late 1st, early 2nd range. So to say we got 0 first round talent is not accurate. That is simply your opinion which is contradicted by Prisco's mock.

If you don't like Prisco, go with Bill Polian. He said Frederick is the best in-line blocker he has seen in years.

So it is not universal that we drafted a scrub, just different people's opinions.

Part of the draft is knowing the players worth, knowing how other teams value the picks. Not having to pay 1st round money for 4th round players. He may turn into a stud and I hope he does, but drafting players 2 rounds early is just stupid.

Ed Werder been trying to trash the Cowboys saying teams had Frederick as low as a 6th round pick.. same garbage Mayock did last night.

My question is in 03 when we took Witten in the 3rd round we got lucky because as history shows he should have been a 1st round pick.

We've also had many picks taken rounds 1-3 that should have been 5th rounders.

Only question people should ask about the pick is not WHERE they're picked but how they fit in with the team. The only time people care about pick location is during the draft.

Once OTA's start that's meaningless to everyone except the GM and Agent for salary slotting purposes.

Exactly, now combine the fact that Frederick was almost universally viewed as a 2nd-3rd rounder with the fact that JERRY JONES was the only GM who thought enough of him to take him in the first round and you have a recipe for a REACH.

This GM gets no benefit of the doubt from me. If everyone is saying he's not a first round talent, and my eyes are telling me he's not a first round talent, but Jerry Jones is over on the other side saying he is... guess who I'm going to side with?
