Why do we continue to run TO deep?

I would have thought by now they would start throwing more quick slants and drag routes with him, after all, he's about the 50th best WR in the league when the ball is in the air deep (that's T Glenn's specialty), but he's the best when he gets it within 5-7 yards of the scrimmage (easier to catch) and he's on the move...we need some freaking real coordinators (and an O-line)

I ask myself this every week. If we didn't know how to utilize the guy we should have never brought him here. The TO highlights of past that I see are 90% quick slant to the middle of the field where he can operate and take it to the house. Why don't we throw him quick slants???

It's because our offensive coaches took yesterday off. Even Madden was saying we needed to feed Owens yesterday and it didn't happen.

It's one thing if Owens doesn't run that sideline pattern well; it's another when our offensive coaches stubbornly stick to making him run that pattern.

Get a real OC. The whole Sparano/Palmer/Haley/Parcells "offensive diamond" crap is not working. While we're at it, ship out the DC too. You won't find many takers for either.

:hammer:

It figures that Dallas is the team that lets TO's best atrributes go to waste. Yeah, he's going to have his drops, but like you said, he is not a deep threat type of receiver. And on another note, where was MBIII in the last 3 quarters? Some of the worst playcalling in the world.

I agree
We should run Glenn deep and Owens on crossing routers and short patterns.
Owens drops too many balls deep and also seems to have lost some ability to make adjustments to balls.

Have you seen TO across the middle when a safety is on coming? Yesterday he alligator-armed another one and dropped an inside slant... It'd be nice to see more slants, but at the same time I've seen enough alligator-arms from him to question if he wants that. And if you have not seen TO do this most of the season, you have not been watching.

Yes he is scared of getting hit. I have seen it.
All in all, he just isn't the same guy anymore.

FYI-that was a Deep In or Skinny Post route not a slant. But point made.

Sometimes I wonder if this is what Parcells is thinking to himself:

"What is the best play to call right now?"

"Ok, now I will call the exact opposite, because they'll never expect it."

Because there is less chance of all those balls that go right through his hands being intercepted when he goes deep!!

You do know the difference between a deep post and a quick slant right? The guy has made his living creating highlight reels by running quick slants.

Where are they now?

I agree with Philly it was always slants and now here it's almost always deep.

Just another item to add to the long list of piss poor decisions this coaching staff is responsible for.

Get rid of them all.

Cause he would complain if we ran him out there for 5 yard hitches. Hes a game changer remember. 5 yard hitches aren't glamorous, dont make sportscenter highlights. We dont run him short cause he does not want to run 5 yard hitches. He wants the homerun ball that he can never catch. Hes a loser and needs to be gone. Just one of many problems we have. A prima donna receiver with the dropsies and a big mouth.

This is clearly a hater speaking. There's no thought involved here... TO has, throughout his history in the NFL, made ther quick slant a glamorous pass. He has always been dangerous with YAC on the quick slants across the middle of the field. This is how he has made his living. Watch the highlight reels. You slant him and get the ball to him before they have a chance to double him. It's not rocket science. You toss him deep posts... all of a sudden the safety is involved and you're looking at throwing into, at best, double coverage.

There's really no sense responding to these kinds of posts. Just don't acknowledge it.
