Why do we remove so many players from our draft board?

I've noticed the past few years, with our draft boards being released, that we remove an awful lot of really good players (presumably for a variety of reasons, including injury, scheme, and character). It makes sense to drop players a round or two based on the severity of concern, but to remove highly gifted players from the board completely is a completely black and white way of approaching the draft and makes no sense to me.

Here are some of the rookies we didn't have on our draft board last year:

Jarvis Jones
Alec Ogletree
Matt Elam
Christine Michael
Keenan Allen
Robert Woods
Tyrann Matthieu
Sam Montgomery
Larry Warford

Many had very successful seasons.

Broaddus mentioned on twitter that McClay will likely be more willing to take "gray area/character risk" players, so at least expect less players to be completely left off the board.

b/c Jason is a wuss and afraid to take on players who might be a bit difficult to handle.

If there is a LIKE button on posts...should there be an "UNLIKE" button too....I give this this an "UNLIKE"....

Garrett hired an outside company that specializes in evaluating the mental-makeup of players. If players don't pass their guidelines, the Cowboys take them off the board.

I'd be curious in what their evaluation would be of him, specifically in game management (lack of) skills.

I believe the word you are looking for is "dislike."

Yes, that would be correct, but was just going by when you click the "like" button, it turns to "unlike".
But if you have a choice side by side, yes "like" & "dislike".
thanks.

If you think a guy is going to be trouble it does not matter how much talent he has. Of course there are exceptions but that does not make up for the much larger number that fail. So it is a good rule to not take them in the first place. For Every Michael Irvin there are a dozen Lawrence Phillips
