Last week a lady I know went on one about this. I don't know why the Cowboys fans continue to root for them. The same thing every year! Been 20 years.

I'm a fan of the team. I grew up in the 80's learned what the game was about in 1985. Let me tell you: you got it good!

I lived 87, 88 and 89.

I'm not guaranteed winning but I'll be rooting for the cowboys to win till the day I die! No matter what

This is a genuine question. I'm about to turn 23 next week, & it still baffles me why I still watch sports. I've played football my whole life, I love it. But why do I still watch? I've never been able to see my boys win a Super Bowl.. Never been able to see my Braves win.. I know a lot of you older guys have felt that greatness before, but I haven't. Every year we say the same thing, "next year". But it never happens..

Idk, maybe it's just me going into another year of panic mode, but still. I dont know how much longer I can do this haha. Maybe its just the whisky I'm drinking. Too another 8-8 year boys. Or not? My optimism comes and goes.. lol

Hello young man! First of all, you and I like the same 3 teams which is rare. Grew up a lifelong Braves/Cowboys fan, not much of a Basketball fan but I have always liked the Spurs if I had to pick. With that being said, it's tough for a guy your age. In '95, I got to see the Braves win the World Series and the Cowboys win the Super Bowl...I was 20 years old....you were what, ONE? LOL Doesn't get much better than that. In the time since, I've realized that I will most likely never see that AGAIN. So I cherish that year. As a fan all you can do is exactly what you've done, keep watching, keep hoping for a championship even if it is only one of the teams. I honestly am feeling like the Braves have more hope.... they are building through youth and their Farm system and don't have the same coaching and ownership bafoonary we see with the Cowboys.. We'll see.

Meh. Even without the super bowls, the Cowboys have had some fun teams to watch in recent years(last year, 2007,etc.). Not every team can be the Patriots, unfortunately.

Plus, the disappointment you feel now from the lack of "pay dirt" is what makes winning it all so much sweeter. Ask Cubs fans lol.

Yea, I mean we are still technically"America's Team", and one of the most valuable teams. I get the frustration. I'm 22 and haven't exactly seen that "pay dirt" either. But we'll get there.

Honestly even in the seasons where the team has won the Super Bowl it is only really great for that one night, the night of the game.

Then its just a new season and it all starts again.

and it is worth it in every way.

Hang in there. Just dont take the losses personally.

Same reason I'm still married to the same woman for gazillion years.
For better or for worse, till death do us apart.

At this rate though, death looks closer than the next SB win.

I watch because I was in the stands for the very first game of this franchise. Been one since day one and will be one till I'm done.

I hear the Patriots are looking for a few fans.

I wish I was 23 again.....

Hey, I'm 39 and the only NFL games I watch start to finish anymore are the Cowboys. And I no longer get so worked up over losses like I used to. When I was your age I was so "into it" that when Dallas lost I would often bring myself to the verge of being physically ill.

Take it from me. There's always another game, always another season. NFL football is meant to be entertainment; don't allow it to ruin aspects of your life. There's many more important things out there. It took me many years to realize that.

Watch the games, enjoy the games, and Go Cowboys!!

My thoughts exactly! When I was younger I would plan my life around the Cowboys and make sure that there weren’t parties etc to attend during the games. When they lose now I just shrug my shoulders and think oh well hopefully we win next week. Years ago it would take me days to get over a loss.

Exactly! This, to me, is what being a fan is all about. Celebrate the wins, and support them through the hard times.

I watch it because I enjoy football whether the team wins or loses. I love the game. I enjoyed today’s game. Obviously I was upset at the loss, but looky there, the world is still turning.

What I do not like is the constant irrational pissing and moaning after every loss. That’s the aspect of football, and discussion of it, that I do not enjoy.

the only thing that is bad is that the cowboys are no closer to the superbowl now than they were 20 years ago

That's an awesome thing. To be able to say you were at the very first Dallas Cowboys game....I salute you!

I was a was a huge fan of the Houston oilers. As a teenager, I moved up to fort Worth. So Dallas was a secondary team for me. The very first season was 1989 in their 1 win season. I had to listen to so many of their games over the radio, because of the black out rules. I was hooked, no matter their record. Eventually the oilers moved and became the Titans and my loyalty was broke and I was completely a cowboys fan. Even if they were a 1 win team and I had to listen to the lose. If that doesnt give me a badge of famdom, I don't know what does!

I bet that's the exact rationalization of a Browns fan to escape from the reality of constant losing.
