Guess I'm a little stumped why the media is included in the enshrinement voting for HOF in sports.
How many have ever played the sport?
They are reporters. At best their opinions of players are based on other people's opinions. Just doesn't make sense to me that some of the most prestigious awards and accomplishments in professional and collegiate sports are decided by people who have never played the game.
Are they supposed to be the gold standard for unbiased selections? Hopefully that isn't the idea.
I just think its complete BS that these guys have any say. I remember when Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwen were up for nomination and there were some voters who refused to vote for them because no player had ever received a unanimous vote and they didn't think that Ripken or Gwen were better than other HOFers and shouldn't get a 100% vote in because of it.
Just ridiculous.
