WHY doesn't BP like Henson?

I mean, Henson says all the right things, he played thru pain in TC and didn't use it as an excuse for his marginal passes, he didn't ***** about them altering his natural throwing motion, he seems like a team player...what, then? He isn't a pothead, he isn't whining about his role. What does a QB have to do to NOT irk the coach?

Who says Bill does not like Henson? I think most of this is in people heads

Henson is Jerry's boy. Romo is BP's (backup) guy. BP is not into projects; he wants to win now. Henson is slow developing because he's been out of football so long. Pick any of the above.

Like it or not, Henson just not look as comfortable and on point out there as Romo.
Romo doesn't look all that hot either, though.

Now where'd I leave Vinny's phone #?

Henson will get his shot here after BP calls it quits at the end of this season. We dont make the playoffs this year with Bledsoe and Jerry wont wait for his resignation, he'll fire his ***.

I disagree with you premise, I don't think Parcells dislikes Henson he just doesn't think he is ready to play. The biggest mistake Parcells could have ever made was to throw Henson to the wolves in the NFL, thank god BP doesn't let fans expectations affect his decisions on players and playing time........

Well, I'll say this: Henson looked better last year than he does this year. They should have left his throwing motion alone.

Its prolly a little disappointment in his slow progress. I must admit I share that disappointment to the point I would consider cutting him, if we could find anyone to replace him on the roster, I would cut him today. Wheres Jeff Garcia when we need him the most. Henson is not getting any better from what I saw. 3 years and no progress. I dunno. I am getting a little frustrated with Henson. Good thing we have Romo.

Easy there guy. Jerry is still the GM here and will not be cutting Henson anytime soon. We have this guy locked into a cheap 7 year contract with most of the money paid already up front.

The beat reporters are saying that Henson is getting better week after week as he acclaimates to his new throwing style, much like Romo did last year. With 5 years to go on his contract I think that we are not going to cut him today...lol.

It took Phil Simms 2 years of sitting on the bench before BP played him.

Why would you want to cut a guy that is showing improvement week after week, sheesh you want to cut him before the rosters even have to be trimmed.

Patience is a virtrue.

and to further punctuate that, when has he had any exposure? They spent all offseason toying with a throwing motion that made him a highly touted QB at Michigan when he should have been knocking off some rust in Europe.

If anyone is to blame for Hensons slow progress its Parcells.

From pulling him after the half against Chicago to now, he hasnt been given a chance to succeed here.

I think the one thing that annoys me with fans disliking Henson is that even though he practiced so much during the offseason, it wasn't live action! That makes a difference, if you don't believe me, ask Ryan Leaf. But I did notice last night that Romo got more pass plays then Henson did. If Romo is more ready then Henson, then why does he need more passing plays? I do believe that Parcells has something against Henson, and I do think that Henson should have played the rest of last year, he still wouldn't have to start this year, just get some time in last year when we had no chance of making the playoffs.

I'm not going to blame Dallas for trying to improve his throwing motion, the vast majority of QB coming from college to the Pro have certain aspect of their throwing motions adjusted once they hit the NFL. There are things you can get away with in college that you will not get away with in the Pro

Cause he sucks. I was quietly pulling for Henson, but I think we should draft a QB high in the upcoming draft and move forward without him. Bledsoe, not that he's great or anything, should be able to give us another year after this one to let a rookie ride the bench next year and get acclimated to the NFL and Romo appears to be an adequate # 2. I say we stop letting Henson keep us from looking for our future QB in the draft. The dude just doesn't appear to be a football player..

WAR Ware and his dominating performance and Beriault wearing # 40.

Agree with this part of your post. Drew looks jittery and nervous. Romo looks under control and in command. Romo ran the O better than Bledsoe IMO. Bledsoe is making me nervous.

I see this year as an instance of taking one step back in order to take two steps forward. Henson was out of football for too long to expect him to be ready to play at this level in a mere two years. Next year will be decisive IMO.

I dont buy it man... there have been plenty of successful QB's at the pro level that had 3/4 throwing motions. Hell, Bledsoe even has one. I dont see BP changing his mechanics.

Its hard for me to imagine that Parcells would want him to fail, I think its ridiculous to even suggest that but I really dont know where he's coming from in regards to Henson. It still baffles me that when the season was over after week 13 that we didnt try to get him some exposure it just doesnt make any sense.

I don't know that it's a matter of like or don't like with Parcells. What has Henson shown any of us so far on the field that would make him deserving of any title but a work in progress?

I think it's probably honest evaluation of where he is as a player. I don't know that getting him killed behind a questionable O-line, or having him get into the habit of making poor decisions and losing us games is going to do him (or us) any good.

Henson was a total gamble from the beginning. Jury's still out, but from what I've seen he's not ready, and Parcells knows that better than I do. Maybe he'll never be ready, but I doubt that will have much to do with the coach liking the kid or not.

I have heard that not only does Bill not like Henson....he does not like Black Helicopters, UFOs, Elvis, Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.

:p:

Seriously....just because a coach does not annoint a guy a starter or automatically makes him the #2 guy does not mean he does not like him.
