Why doesn't Dez ever return punts anymore?

People on this forum are the only ones I've seen routinely question his conditioning.

Again Dez has played 97 professional regular season games. How many times has he had hydration issues?

I seem to recall Dez making huge plays in Greenbay late into the game. Did he do that despite being in poor shape?

X is bringing up things from 4 years ago and acting like it is still valid. Anyone paying attention can see he has matured quite a bit the last couple of years.

T1D...so you were against us using Deion in that capacity back in the day? And Mike Tomlin is wrong to use AB in that roll? I mean, not even in a spot duty type of situation? Never? Never ever???

I likely should have said you "generally" don't use your star players as kick returners. :)
But to address your question, Deion was a generational talent. He rarely got touched on punt returns and had such an uncanny knack for exploiting and exploding through holes in the coverage unit. I don't put Dez in Deion's category.
As for AB, I personally don't think it's wise for him to return punts and kickoffs. But that's me.

I see...thx for clarifying. I agree that a star player shouldn't be exposed to regular return duties but I would like to see one in there if/when the game situation calls for it (i.e., other team pinned back and punting from end zone). Hopefully Switzer renders this all a mute point as I think we need someone to come in and put the fear of God in teams in the return game...
