Why doesn’t Dallas do what the Rams did?

This off season, the Rams signed Suh, Marcus Peters, and Talib in free agency
Guess what? It’s working..........

It seems their roster/team building strategy is light years ahead of ours.

:dance::dance::dance:

There are NFL fans out there right now who are disappointed with their team’s start to the 2018 offseason. Whether it was talent lost, talent gained, or the contractual implications that ultimately impact the organization for this year and beyond, there is undoubtedly an entire fan base out there that is not satiated. They wanted more for, or from, their team.

But that is not the case for Los Angeles Rams’ fans, where there’s more excitement than downtime.

Players are being traded, picks are being shuffled, pro bowl players are being acquired, atrocious contracts are being discarded or reworked, and they are already on the books for compensatory picks in 2019. It seems as though every day in March a Rams’ fan could wake up and just feel the excitement.

Goodbye Robert Quinn, Alec Ogletree, and Trumaine Johnson. No love lost, and best of luck to you in your new homes. But hello Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Sam Shields, and Ndamukong Suh.

Consider it addition by subtraction. And what the Rams have added this offseason isn’t something they’re hoping to build upon for a future run deep into the postseason. It’s predicated on a Super Bowl run in 2018.

They tried to get Mack and were planning on unloading him in the offseason. Chicago just put together a better package. They are going all in.

But the Cowboys don’t do it because their process is supposed to be building a long term SB contender instead of a one hit wonder. They are just failing miserably as doing that.

Because the Rams are serious about winning and the Cowboys are serious about making money.

Ok I’m actually on board with you here but in the off-season, our Oline looked good because Frederick wasn’t sick yet, the “hotboys” were gonna kick but on the Dline, and Dak was our franchise QB ( various articles about Steven and Jerry getting the mone6 ready for Dak)
DLine is incomplete. Has talent, but our stubbornness in refusing to complete it keeps holding us back.

Dak was a 4th round dart throw. His problems were actually apparent from the start, and the coaching of that should have started right away. Instead, we won, and w/ this org if we're winning we're unable to comprehend issues.

Tyron has had back issues for what, the 3rd consecutive season? Now, we did draft Connor to replace him at some point, but our backups beyond Looney don't seem to be all that good. And Connor is a rook, and not quite ready.

Looney actually played well, from what I'm understanding.

What? You mean you can build through FA? That is unheard of according to this site. Silly Ram's don't they know you can only build through the draft? Hahaha.

Agree they are trying to do it the way the Patriots are doing it but the difference is they have the best coach probably ever to coach in the NFL with one of the greatest qb of all time. The Eagles tried to do it several years ago and that did not work out to well. I think Stephen has seen the Cowboys being snake bitten more than once going after high end FA and don't want to go that route. I think the Cowboys will be 4th or 5th in the amount they have to spend next year for FA but the question is will they be willing to spend it.

Yep. And the Rams are where the Cowboys were in 2003. Jerry wanted a new stadium and knew it would be a difficult sell after (3) 5-11 seasons. The Rams already have their stadium in progress, but in the LA market, they've got to excel NOW to market it.

We are still spending money on our practice club facility...
Jerry figured out the real way to be a billionaire is NOT to put a top notch team on the field, but to build a better field. He doesn't care about the team on the field, just the field. Now he can sell his field to whoever wants to use it. He is smart this way. As fans, he sucks as an owner because all of his moves are to better he and his family financially. The team is not important. He got his 3 SB trophies, thanks to Jimmy. He has all he could ever need. With his stadium and his practice facility, the Jones family is set for multiple generations. Dallas will become the Cleveland Browns as far as winning goes.

The first step is identifying good players that would mesh with the current system in place. That is not something Dallas is very good at. Plus, when you sign a pro bowl caliber player, nobody looks smart. It almost too obvious. Jerry is looking for moves that primarily make him look smart. Its almost an impossible task.
