CowboysZone ULTIMATE Fan
This off season, the Rams signed Suh, Marcus Peters, and Talib in free agency
Guess what? It’s working..........

It seems their roster/team building strategy is light years ahead of ours.

:dance::dance::dance:

There are NFL fans out there right now who are disappointed with their team’s start to the 2018 offseason. Whether it was talent lost, talent gained, or the contractual implications that ultimately impact the organization for this year and beyond, there is undoubtedly an entire fan base out there that is not satiated. They wanted more for, or from, their team.

But that is not the case for Los Angeles Rams’ fans, where there’s more excitement than downtime.

Players are being traded, picks are being shuffled, pro bowl players are being acquired, atrocious contracts are being discarded or reworked, and they are already on the books for compensatory picks in 2019. It seems as though every day in March a Rams’ fan could wake up and just feel the excitement.

Goodbye Robert Quinn, Alec Ogletree, and Trumaine Johnson. No love lost, and best of luck to you in your new homes. But hello Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Sam Shields, and Ndamukong Suh.

Consider it addition by subtraction. And what the Rams have added this offseason isn’t something they’re hoping to build upon for a future run deep into the postseason. It’s predicated on a Super Bowl run in 2018.

What do "It's working" mean? (It's been two games)

a few notes:
LA Rams went 11-5 last year and made the playoffs.
It's been 2 weeks... so characterizing their signings as working might be a tad bit premature.

No, Rocky, he does not. He has admitted publicly that he's not a good GM, and still insists on doing the job. A man who wants to win more than anything will do anything to win. Jerry will not.

You are reading what he said wrong. If you look at his quote concerning that, he doesn't ever say that he's not the man for the job. He says the GM deserved to be dismissed, but that he's always worked for himself so "you can't do that." Instead, "you basically have to straighten that guy out in the mirror when you work for yourself."

So knowing that he deserves to be fired, Jerry says he should have been (because he can't deny that), but essentially because he doesn't have to fire himself, he is in position to right the course. In other words, he believes in his ability to do that despite the evidence that says he should have been fired.

Here's the full quote so you can see how he has convinced himself that he can be the guy to fix the problems with this team.

When asked by Bob Costas if he would have fired the GM by now if it wasn't him:

"Well, I think so ... because he was there to dismiss," Jones said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I've always worked for myself, and you can't do that. You basically have to straighten that guy out in the mirror when you work for yourself. But certainly, if I'd had the discretion, I've done it with coaches, and certainly I would have changed a general manager."

First, they should hire Jeff Fisher as HC and suck for 5 years, picking up top draft picks along the way to set things up for a better coaching staff.

I don't care if you are wrong or right. We've just seen them in one game and to make a suggestion that we should follow their approach is premature IMO. As it is every season we will not know what any team is or isn't until after the week 4 games are complete.
Can you judge them yet? They look pretty good

This is bull****. I’m not a Jerry fan but he does want to win more than anything.

Not more than getting a real GM.
Not more than getting a real head coach that won't let him (JJ) run roughshod over the team.
Not more than he likes money.
Not more than his ego.
Not more than his need to prove to the world that he's a "football guy".

LOL. The Rams defense isn't as good as ours. They added 3 expensive FA to be less than us on defense....
They were flat carved up last night by Minny.

The Rams offense is light years better. LIGHT YEARS. And those guys they mostly drafted: Goff, Kupp, Gurley.

Dallas didn't need a 32 year old head case in Talib or another known roster issue in Marcus Peters.
The CBs in Dallas are playing very well.

Even with the new NT banged up the DL has held up just fine.

The offense has been the issue and those guys they did add in FA have largely been useless.

DEFENSIVE LINE RANKING, WEEK 3: 4th
The Rams’ defensive interiors, Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald, are easily the best defensive tackle tandem in the NFL. The duo has recorded 30 total pressures between them, tops among every team’s top-two pass-rushing defensive tackles through Week 3. Los Angeles’ lack of an edge presence, however, keeps the unit from the top spot in the league, as second-year Eastern Michigan product Samson Ebukam leads the team’s edge defenders in total pressures with just six.

DEFENSIVE LINE RANKING, WEEK 3: 5th
Vikings fourth-year edge defender Danielle Hunter leads the unit in pass-rush productivity at 7.7, which currently ranks tied for 17th. Fellow edge defender Everson Griffen has also turned in a respectable 6.9 pass-rush productivity through Week 3, while newly signed defensive interior Sheldon Richardson is off to an even hotter start with 13 total pressures and an 8.2 pass-rush productivity rating. In run defense, Minnesota’s defensive line, anchored by Linval Joseph’s seven run stops, is tied for fourth in the NFL in total run stops (27).

Yep. And the Rams are where the Cowboys were in 2003. Jerry wanted a new stadium and knew it would be a difficult sell after (3) 5-11 seasons. The Rams already have their stadium in progress, but in the LA market, they've got to excel NOW to market it.
The NFL knows it too

Tavon Austin is the #2 bright spot on offense behind Elliott and makes less mental mistakes.

Because the team doesn’t like to invest draft capital in QBs. Apparently Aikman wasn’t successful enough winning only 3 titles so they want to try and make do with feel good story UFFA’s and mid round pick hoping to strike it Brady rich.

Every wr Dallas has had or will have will be useless as long as Dak is here.
