Young enough that I'm probably going to get destroyed for that comment.
LOL.....
OK, the Steelers were not always a 34 defense. I don't follow the Steelers religiously but if memory serves, the Steelers went to the 34 in the early 90s. The first few seasons, they actually played both 34 and 43. It took some time for them to actually learn the system in and out. Also took time to aquire the right players for the scheme.
I read your comment and was dumb founded by it. I thought to myself, "Lord, are you that old?"
:laugh2:
As I'm sure you know but maybe just didn't register with you, at one time, the Steelers had one of the best front fours in the History of Pro Football. There Steel Curtain Teams were legendary. Back in those days, that 4-3 was the best defense many had ever seen.
Joe Green, LC Greenwood, Dwight White, Steve Furness (I believe) up front with Robin Cole, Jack Ham and Jack Lambert at LB. Mel Blont, Donnie Shell, Mike Wagner and Ron Johnson in the backfield.
I think Banazak, Toews, Gary Dunn and a guy named Tony Dungy were the guys off the bench. That was a great 43 defense.
