colts now seriously need a running back.

no way they get anyone to carry the load with the 30th pick in the first round.

with the free agent quarterback signings throwing the top half of the first round out of order, and with arizona and baltimore no longer desparate for ball carriers, a guy like deangelo williams could very well be available when we get on the clock at #18.

that's when the phone rings, with indy offering picks 30 and 62. (the values are equivalent.)

...i don't know about you, but i would make that trade!

That's some pretty good outside the box thinking...

remind me why we draft a running back when we have julius jones and marion barber, and even tyson thompson...
Nobody said anything about drafting a RB.

to galian beast: WE wouldn't draft a runner -- THEY would. we would pick up another draft choice.

I was thinking the same thing at one time. The teams who will definitely want a RB are Indy, Minny, Philly, and Pitt.

1st round RBs after Bush are Lendale White, Lawrence Maroney, and Deangelo Williams. Can Indy afford to wait until 30? I don't think so.

Already edited it.

With a trade like that I think we could have a solid draft in terms of putting us in a really good place in the future.

They have done fine with the likes of Dominic Rhodes and James Mungro in the past.

True... but their window... although certainly not closed, is not as wide open as it once was...

They need a top back to take the heat off of Manning...

with picks at 30, 49 and 62, i definitely think we could pick up solid players at OT, LB and either WR or FS.

The next step (Super Bowl) will not be achieved going from Edge to Mungro or Rhodes.

:hammer: Besides, Mungro and Rhodes have never had a full season of carrying the entire load. Just a game or three when James was banged up.

Maroney's the most logical choice for Indy and he should be available at their pick although Denver is a wildcard for him. I've said all off season that Dallas' best hope at a trade down is for three of the four RBs to be gone and Carolina and Indy both looking for RBs.

With AZ and Balt unlikely to go RB in the first, it hurts the Cowboys more than helps them.

There is a hope that the next RB, probably Calhoun, is enticing enough for someone to move up to 49 for.

The thought of Deangelo Williams in Philly gives me heart burn.

Rhodes carried the load in '01 when James went down for the season. Had over 1100 yds rushing and 350 receiving.

They'd only trade up as far as they have to, in order to get in front of a team that they think might select thier running back of choice. Since we are drafting in front of the chargers, it unlikely that they would seek out the cowboys as a trading partner.
