You realize that in years past, when we brought free agents in for a visit, they almost always signed a contract, right?

"almost"...so even back then FAs left without signing...even YOU realize this.

There you go.

I guess back in the days they wanted to play for americas team and thought this is the best place to be in pro football. Nowadays they just go to the highest bidder.

They always went to the highest bidder, and if Jerry wanted a guy and thought that one guy was going to get him to the holy land, he opened up the checkbook....he has grown a wee bit wiser in his older age.

And even YOU can realize this year has been very different... "almost" all of the FA's who visited this year left without a contract and just used the Cowboys for a free steak dinner and as leverage to sign elsewhere.

You may meet with a player face to face and then decide maybe you don't want to offer him as much--or nothing at all.

I am a true blue die hard Cowboys fan. But at this point and the state of the franchise I simply would not play for the Cowboys unless they threw the bank at me.

Nonsense

Cowboy fans make me laugh with their collective pity party!

Most players know the Cowboys are a competitive team with a healthy Romo.

I don't think it's changed all that much. If we want a player, we can get them. All that's changed is how much value we're placing on FA vets.

I'd say Weddle is the only player we probably really wanted but didn't get, and he went to another good organization who paid him more.

And you watch, Jason Jones, who just left the building, will re-sign with the Lions. There you go.

It happens across the league. I am not sure why you are throwing a temper tantrum this offseason like this is the only team that does this kind of thing.

The Cowboys have not spent a BIG contract on any player since Carr and Leonard.

Stop...soak that in...it is NOT something new no matter how much you start threads complaining about it.

They decided to quit overspending on FAs and since that time they have went the cheap route.

EVEN when they were spending big on FAs...they STILL lost out on some of the FAs...I guess you don't remember when the Eagles stole a certain CB from us who was a FA after spending years with the Raiders...and THANKFULLY the Eagles took that terrible contract instead of us.

You are missing my point. While I would have been more proactive in FA to sign a CB to replace Carr and a more established DE, I generally agree with the Cowboys' approach. My simple point is why are we allowing ourselves to simply be leverage for FAs to visit and sign with other teams? Why schedule a visit, get the fan base riled up, etc. if we have not agreed in advance with the player's agent on the parameters of a contract? Seems pointless, and in this year in particular where so many FAs have visited and left without a contract, a greater waste of time and energy. If we are going to be frugal, do it the Packers way and don't schedule the visits in the first place.

It happens to MULTIPLE TEAMS.

I don't know why you can't seem to grasp this.

You do know that some of the FAs we signed had also visited with other teams or had other teams they were going to visit...right? Would you be complaining about those other teams that did not get to sign them with such fervor...of course not.

If we are only be used for leverage by FAs to visit other teams...well someone tell Looney, Mayowa, Thornton and Morris because they must have not gotten the memo before signing with the cowboys.

If you are upset because you are getting all hyped up about some FA signings that do not pan out...don't blame the Cowboys, blame yourself for getting that hyped up.

You're a staff member, so you must be right. And condescending. Thanks for all your thoughtful personal attacks ("temper tanturm" "even YOU" "upset" "cant grasp this" "hyped up"), Mr. Trump.

What team have you been watching outside of a couple over achieving years?

Yes I am...and in this case..>Yes I am.

If you intend to start threads about the same topic where it appears you are throwing temper tantrums because you can't seem to grasp the idea that other teams go through the same things, me calling you out on it is not personal attacks nor condescending. It is me trying to explaining it to you that other teams do the same things and you either not grasping it or refusing to grasp it.

The OP is right. Things have changed dramatically. We are now the 'cheap' team.

Most guys will visit DAL out of curiosity but they aren't jumping at our rock bottom deals.

Everyone here seems to group think that this is a great way to build to a team but it has birthed no results.
Even GB does it out of necessity and not choice. They don't have the cash to be big spenders. We do.

This is not a new MO but it has been ramped up in the last few years since Carr. We were NEVER big players in FA. We are number 2 all-time in comp picks behind BAL.
