Why is everybody so down on Peterman?

I thought he played rather well in the preseason and was backing up Allen. Now i see a bunch of people mentioning him in the same breath as Jacob Rogers.

What gives? I realize that Gurode started over him but then again Gurode played lights out against Carolina.

Am I missing something?

Out of sight, out of mind. Its a what have you done for me lately mentality and guys like Peterman and Henson haven't been seen doing anything for them.

Who's down on him.

I see threads after every game about Tucker, Petitti and Johnson. A few about Rivera.

Peterman doesn't seem to even be on the radar.

The same reason everyone is down on Burnett, he hasn't been playing.

Ive seen bunches of threads including him with Johnson, Rogers and Pettiti as proof of our OL draft futility.

It seems like a lot of the blather lately its a bunch of tripe tho.

BP should have given Peterman a few snaps in the meaning less came. Would have given him an idea how Peterman would look against real competition.

I think a lot of fans were disappointed that he wasn't the guy to replace Rivera at RG. That doesn't make him a bust though. I would like to see him soon though so we can get some mileage out of that 3rd round pick.

Peterman should make a run next year.....it will be nearly two years from his injury and he will be much stronger.

Peterman is not very good and they didn't see much potential, otherwise they wouldn't have signed Rivera-- it's that simple. Had Peterman shown signs of being a player, we'd have seen him on the field.

But I thought they only had Peterman at LG. He was playing in place of Rivera during the injury but struggled from switching sides I thought. Then he played for LA during his little conditioning fiasco.

Peterman was coming off injury and hadn't been evaluated properly. That is why we signed Rivera. I'm curious why he didn't see the field more, but I think he deserves another year to develop. Parcells has always praised his work ethic. If he's nothing more than a backup, it's still a better return than a lot of our day-one picks over the years.

Peterman was an animal and team leader at LSU . . . I wouldn't classify him as "not very good". I know, I know "this isn't college ball". I just hope the "Big Peter" gets his shot at some point and doesn't disappoint. Um, pardon the pun!

Like one poster said, man out of sight, out of mind. The guy simply hasn't been, so you have to assume the worst.

It is the same thing with Jacob Rogers. The guy couldnt even get on the field when Tucker stunk it up late last year and didnt even play in the last game of the season.

Petermen didnt even see any action when injuries occurred and didnt even rotate with anyone in what probably was 1-3 worst offensive line in the league.

he didn't dress for a game all season. when rivera got nicked it was an undrafted rookie, Cory Procter from Division 1-AA Montana, who dressed not peterman. the writing is on the wall.

Peterman apparently can only play LG. At least that is what BP said. So that is why he is not playing.

How could they know either way on Peterman before they signed Rivera?? He got injured before his rookie season, & hadn't even totally healed before they signed Rivera. Let's get the facts straight before making comments, shall we?!

The fact is, no one knows how good Peterman will be. He missed his entire rookie season, and was out of shape this year, because he didn't have the opportunity to work on all muscle groups while injured. The team does really need to get him in the weight room this off-season. The guy looks doesn't even look like a pro athlete. He is WAY out of shape. I watched him in a few all-star games before his draft, & I thought he played very well against the best seniors of that year.

Anyway, he has only had one healthy season so far, so he realistically should be given at least another season or two before any real decisions can be made. Most OLs take 2-4 seasons to reach maturity in the pros. Give the guy a chance!

I believe Parcells is down on him. He has mentioned he is a left guard and not capable at this point at playing any other position. Thus Parcells says he can not take him to the game because of the numbers game.
