Word was on GAC (Randy Galloway) Friday was to accommodate the additional crowd and to appease the fire dept because it provides additional area for the oversold inside space, hence it never was a choice, it was open or tell some people to stay home/refund money. The party pass area was never meant to hold 30k additional with the current inside sq ft, opening the doors provides footage outside that meets the fire dept requirements for people vs space. At one time they said an additional Media screen was going to be placed outside so the game could be seen when outside the doors, rumor was you had to buy an additional ticket to see the Video outside. Not sure where Jerry where be guessing peoples weight/age this game with all these changes.

Yep, I was just about to mention that I caught the end of that on GAC, too. Apparently the fire marshall took the decision out of Jerry's hands.

Fortunately, it should be a nice weather night on Sunday. Wonder what Jerry would have done if we'd had one of our 100 degree days and people were all complaining about the stifling heat?

It's working. It pisses me off because I would rather have it closed for the first regular season game in there. Who am I though? Jerry has done very well in showcasing the new stadium. I guess this decision pales in comparison to the spectacle that will be on the grand stage Sunday night. Can't wait.

When I buy the team in about 15 years, the dome will be open every game, come rain, snow, sleet or shine...just so you know and can go ahead and start getting ready for it.

I dont remember all the specifics, but I do recall Jerry saying something back during contruction that with the doors and roof open, there was a cooling effect regardless of what the temperature outside was because of the circulation of air. IIRC he said they could play every game even in August or September and not have to run AC.

The reason to build the domed stadium wasnt so much for fan comfort, it was because the league wouldnt allow them to have a Super Bowl there without it due to threat of inclement (winter) weather. That, and Jones also wanted it to host other events.
