Why is Patrick Crayton NOT this team's holder?!?

Agreed. I know one thing, if Stanback was healthy, I'd love to have an athlete/QB of his calibur holding for us. Like I said in another thread, if he bobbles the ball and has to run for it, who can catch him from behind?

He was a qb in college so the thinking is he is a threat to run a fake also not to mention he a better athlete than Johnson.

I think they tried him as a holder last year (in camp or practice) and it did not pan out. At least I think it was Crayton.

i would prefer stanbeck too, it's not like he'll be playing wr this year.

plus he's injured, so he can't move anyway.

Matt McBriar is the best athlete on this team. The coaches just don't want to spread his talents too thin.

I think it's because it's more than just having good hands etc. Otherwise you would see more WR's holding. Plus Crayton isn't the most secure guy with a football anyway....

Was it the trick play he tried once in a game going for 2 or a 4th down thing ? Crayton lined up at QB and we did not make it. I can't recall seeing him as a holder, but hey why not...He got the best hands on the team according to reports.

Certainty could be a concern. We know that Brad Johnson will make the team as the 2nd string quarterback. That means limited exposure to the field, unless Romo gets injured. By comparison Crayton will see the field far more often between his duties as a wide receiver and special teams.

Personally I don't care who the holder is as long as it is not our starting QB.
