Why isn't Randy Gregory more productive yet?

He is struggling to apply his techniques at full speed. His hand work working inside on stunts is awkward and he cannot beat the tackles he is facing with his speed move consistently. He did have that LT false starting though. At the end of the day he ends too many rushes stonewalled when he is supposed to be moving upfield. Paddycake gets you nowhere.

It'll take all the lumps given this year, and an off-season of good work after familiarizing himself with NFL life and we should see a more true version of what we all want to see out of Gregory.
You can see he gets the nuances, which is a great thing, but he hasn't been able to apply his work as fast and as polished as it needs to be.

I'm very encouraged about this rookie and where he's headed.

They say it takes 45 days or so to cleanse the devil weed from you body. Well, the kind that he smoked takes two years to wear off...give the man a break!

Come on...the guy is a rook and got injured with a high ankle sprain. Plus he was sort of skinny when he first got here, give him some time.

Me too. He half no where to go but up. I think he will be fine and will improve ever year he is here.
I see next year as a breakout year for him and a lot of other young mens on the team.

Didn't realize high ankle sprains took so long to recover from. If what is being posted in this thread is accurate, along with what I've researched myself, we can chalk this up to what will be a lost season for Gregory.

Try one. Not just a regular sprain, but one where someone in the 250-300 lb class range steps on you.

It will become abundantly clear why he is not the same player. He won't be right for while. The explosion will not be there and if he has to plant for leverage it won't be the same as pre injury for some time.

One, he's a rookie playing against seasoned vets. Two, he's coming off of an injury that limits his most effective asset, which is his speed.

I'm still wondering why DLaw isn't productive yet.

He is doing fine against the run. On pace for 5-6 sacks.

He is productive.

He isn't a superstar (yet) however, he just passed the 16 game mark for games played in his career.

Give it time.

I know he's a rookie, but I just find it funny how so many of you are willing to give this guy a total pass and say you're not at all worried, but when it comes to our veterans who have at least proven something in this league, many of you are the same to rush in with over the top criticism... I'm not saying we should give up on the guy, but he has not lived up to expectations, not even close... I know he got injured, and for some reason that's more of an acceptable excuse for him than it is for others... Demarcus Lawrence is a mediocre talent, and even his rookie year which was plagued by injury was more impressive than Gregory's has been thus far...

Bottom-line, he's got to show a lot more than he has... Looking ahead to the 2016 draft, DE has to be right after DT in terms of positional needs, and that's even if we re-sign Hardy... Lawrence is a good rotational guy, but he cant be your second best DE/pass-rusher... Gregory was supposed to be awesome, but if he finishes the season with 0 sacks and 5 tackles, then I wouldn't feel too good about his chances of suddenly turning into Demarcus Ware... I'm optimistic about Gregory still, and I obviously hope for the best, but until he actually proves it with his play, I can't help but assume that the team is still in desperate need of a quality DE to play opposite of Hardy next season... I'd definitely be hoping for an elite DT or DE prospect to be available when Dallas is picking in the first-round...

His problem is the who DL's problem .. it's called "Leon Lett" he simply needs to go .. As I said before Jerry is loyal to a fault .. and that allows for some to relax and take advantage of it .. not saying Leon is taking advantage of it but he is too relaxed knowing he has the relationship with Jerry and also Garrett..

He needs to go .. anew aggressive DL coach is needed to teach those studs how to rush the QB or stop the run

This is concerning to me also, I really thought we had something with him and we aren't getting much.

DLaw is on pace for 5 sacks.

He play against the run is at least average.

He just completed his first 16 games of playing at all and has started roughly 11 games in his career,

He is still young and inexperienced.

I know that many want their players to be instantly All-Pro, however, the reality is it doesn't work out that way most of the time.

IMHO, DLaw has shown slow and steady progress. I haven't seen him come close to anything that looks like his ceiling yet.

I don't think you should be concerned with DLaw at this stage.
