He needs reps.Having said that, I still expect Blue to have a career similar to Jahmyr Gibbs.

After we are eliminated this week, hopefully he starts getting some reps.He is young and stupid. Now we wait and see if he remains stupid or can actually show some aptitude for growth.
It's giving Joseph Randle vibesWhen he was selected in round 5 of the 2025 draft, most Cowboys fans saw RB Jaydon Blue as a speedy weapon who would probably be at the very least a Swiss Army knife secret weapon. With almost 75% of the season over, Blue has barely played, much less showed what he was drafted to be.
So…Why has Blue not been able to get on the field this year? Here are the reasons:
Blue still has time to get his act together. His talent is there. But he has been reminded that in the NFL, talent alone won’t get you on the field. He needs to show a commitment to learn the offense better (especially pass protection) and exhibit that he is willing to do whatever it takes.
- Despite his speed, Blue’s college scouting report showed he had fumble issues and had major problems in pass protection. It’s why he lasted to round 5. He apparently has still struggled in the pass protection issues.
- Blue does not play special teams. His size hurts him as a tackler/gunner and his fumble issues keep him from kickoff returns and punts.
- Questions arose in training camp and into the season about Blue’s commitment to improving and learning.
- The re-emergence of Malik Davis. MD plays STs, is decent is pass blocking and has shown a burst in spot duty behind Javonte Williams.
The 2026 off-season and TC will tell us a lot about Jaydon Blue’s commitment.
We often prefer faster potential football players over actual football players for some reason.Blue has time to grow but he had less than 1200 yards rushing in a career at UT with 11 TDs.
There was zero doubt he was raw as rain.
I am still mad the Cowboys draft him over Tahj Brooks.
Tahj is slow and has only 9 carries but he averaged over 25 yards per kick return and has 5 solo special teams tackles.
He is also an elite pass protector.
He has plus vision, patience, strength and toughness.
He would have been an ideal short yardage and RB3 guy that is active weekly.
I think that’s a very fair question. He was always a part time guy in college and did not have a big role until his last year at UT.I think Blue lacks talent. Really, aside from speed, what does he bring to the table?
Main point is because he hasn't played lolWhen he was selected in round 5 of the 2025 draft, most Cowboys fans saw RB Jaydon Blue as a speedy weapon who would probably be at the very least a Swiss Army knife secret weapon. I mean, he's not a 3 down back.Sure, having the ability to take to house on any given play, is not special at all.
Well he definitely was not a 1st and 2nd down back.I mean, he's not a 3 down back.
Yeah because instincts and angles can negate a ton of speed. You can't simply be fast and expect to win in the NFL.He’s a jag. Every team has a guy like him on their roster. Maybe he can graduate from that with a good camp.
But based on everything he’s immature and young minded and not NFL ready when it comes to preparation.
Which is a shame because he had a huge opportunity in front of him. Sanders hurt, Javonte on a one year deal.
The thing about the NFL is everyone is fast. You run a 4.36….a linebacker or defensive end probably run a 4.45 or 4.56. You gotta have more than speed. Speed loses every week in this league and he also doesn’t play as fast as he apparently is.
I know Malik Davis probably had a bad 40 time or something happened but I mean he allegedly ran a 4.66. Plays much faster then Blue.
Agree. Plus, he's just not very good.Because he's a knucklehead who can't act like a true professional (yet). That's why.
+1I don’t even know why he’ll be given another year. Cowboys waste too much time on project players and he’s already proven, as far as I’m concerned, that he can’t cut it. How much wasted time are they going to allow?
I’m sure this won’t be a popular opinion, but I really don’t care. That’s just the way I see it.
Fortunately just a 5th rounderLooks like another wasted pick so far.
Sorry, brother BH, I have to disagree with most of your points against Jaydon Blue...When he was selected in round 5 of the 2025 draft, most Cowboys fans saw RB Jaydon Blue as a speedy weapon who would probably be at the very least a Swiss Army knife secret weapon. Pretty much.Because he's a knucklehead who can't act like a true professional (yet). That's why.

Jaydon Blue has only fumbled the ball 1 time. That's because the defender zeroed in and planted his helmet right on the football. Most every RB would have lost that ball. Javonte Williams has lost 3 fumbles. Since Blue is labeled a fumbling RB, what does 3 fumbles make Javonte Williams?
- Despite his speed, Blue’s college scouting report showed he had fumble issues and had major problems in pass protection. It’s why he lasted to round 5. He apparently has still struggled in the pass protection issues.
Jaydon Blue can return kicks and punts. He's done it already with the Cowboys when given an opportunity. He's not much of a tackler, but he certainly can return kicks and punts.
- Blue does not play special teams. His size hurts him as a tackler/gunner and his fumble issues keep him from kickoff returns and punts.
Is there any concrete evidence to support such an accusation saying Jaydon Blue slacks off or lacks commitment to improving and learning? This is a serious accusation since it directly attacks a player's personality and determination (or lack of it).
- Questions arose in training camp and into the season about Blue’s commitment to improving and learning.
Jaydon Blue has pass protected very well the few times he has played and has to pass protect. There have been a few plays (for big gains but were brought back due to penalties) where Jaydon Blue showed decent speed and gained some big yards, but those plays were sadly brought back due to penalties. Yes, the other majority of times, Jaydon Blue hesitates and does not hit the hole fast, but I believe a lot of it has to do with still learning the playbook and having such a lack of experience. Give him some time to gel and improve on his hesitancy. He's going to be a weapon for the Cowboys.
