Why Jaydon Blue has been a non-factor this year

Is there any concrete evidence to support such an accusation saying Jaydon Blue slacks off or lacks commitment to improving and learning?

This story about lack of commitment is not a new story. Concrete evidence? Probably not, unless one of us is team staff. Hearing about this for the first time? Nope. We've all heard it before. Not concrete but more like sun dried mud brick/adobe.

Where are you seeing Williams has three fumbles?

Blue has only touched the ball 23 times and fumbled once already.

Williams has just 2 fumbles on 240 touches.
Funny. AI said Javonte had 3 fumbles. Now it says 2.

Doesn't matter. I don't care which RB you are, when you have a big LB come in spearing and put all his weight behind his helmet as he lays a strike on the ball being held by a RB, that ball is going to pop loose.

So pure hearsay?

College speed is not the same as NFL speed. He has been on the field a few times and he looks like a 5th round talent with limited speed. Same as the last RB we drafted that was a best in college then got humbled at the pro level.

He’s a jag. Every team has a guy like him on their roster. Maybe he can graduate from that with a good camp.

But based on everything he’s immature and young minded and not NFL ready when it comes to preparation.

Which is a shame because he had a huge opportunity in front of him. Sanders hurt, Javonte on a one year deal.

The thing about the NFL is everyone is fast. You run a 4.36….a linebacker or defensive end probably run a 4.45 or 4.56. You gotta have more than speed. Speed loses every week in this league and he also doesn’t play as fast as he apparently is.

I know Malik Davis probably had a bad 40 time or something happened but I mean he allegedly ran a 4.66. Plays much faster then Blue.
Davis looked fast on his 40 yard TD right up the middle vs KC! I bet he’s more like a 4.5.

I’m more interested in Israel A and Phil Mafah. Guys you can actually run North South and have success .

Blue has had eight (8) total fumbles in his 214 career touches as a Longhorn, which calculates to one fumble per 26.7 touches, according to Eric Henry of 247Sports.

It's hard to catch players if they get a head start on you and you don't have the angle. 4.6 looks plenty fast in those instances.

And only 1 this year after the LB dove and planted his T-bar right on the football, obviously knocking the football loose. Any other RB would have lost the football after that hit. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

When he was selected in round 5 of the 2025 draft, most Cowboys fans saw RB Jaydon Blue as a speedy weapon who would probably be at the very least a Swiss Army knife secret weapon. With almost 75% of the season over, Blue has barely played, much less showed what he was drafted to be.

So…Why has Blue not been able to get on the field this year? Here are the reasons:
  • Despite his speed, Blue’s college scouting report showed he had fumble issues and had major problems in pass protection. It’s why he lasted to round 5. He apparently has still struggled in the pass protection issues.
  • Blue does not play special teams. His size hurts him as a tackler/gunner and his fumble issues keep him from kickoff returns and punts.
  • Questions arose in training camp and into the season about Blue’s commitment to improving and learning.
  • The re-emergence of Malik Davis. MD plays STs, is decent is pass blocking and has shown a burst in spot duty behind Javonte Williams.
Blue still has time to get his act together. His talent is there. But he has been reminded that in the NFL, talent alone won’t get you on the field. He needs to show a commitment to learn the offense better (especially pass protection) and exhibit that he is willing to do whatever it takes.

The 2026 off-season and TC will tell us a lot about Jaydon Blue’s commitment.
I hit you with a like, Bob on this post. Wouldn't argue with a letter of what you've written. Well-articulated, as always. Props. We both very much dislike Jerry, and many of his FO's decisions, so I feel your vibe.

But before I go... this question: why do 98% of your posts fixate only on front-office failures, yet seem eager to ignore their many brilliant decisions, even of the 5-star caliber?

You've posted perhaps 500 threads obliterating the Cowboys' Front Office and their approach. "Burn Jerry Down" seems your repeated sermon. I'm not surprised that w/your wordcraft and that message, you receive a billion likes.

But occasionally some heart-felt applause?

For example, this year:
  • Pickens--the single best offseason move of the season in all the NFL, by a mile...
  • J-Williams--what a find, at a budget
  • The *right* decision to let Parsons go, given the price*
  • James Houston for a dime
  • Dante Fowler back and bawling.
  • Drafting Booker...brilliant
  • Drafting Ezzie...brilliant

I laughed when the pick was made as I knew it would create a 100+ threads here and it has..... The kid was always going to get a real long leash on Cowboys Zone because he's a Longhorn. Some people here will defend this kid to no end as they watched him at Texas. If he played for Tennessee he'd be almost forgotten or we'd call him a bust here.

Anyone remember when we traded for Roy Williams the WR? A terrible trade for a WR that never reached 600 yards in a season in Dallas and went over 1,000 once in his career. But there were so many people here celebrating that move like we just traded for a 5 time all pro. I saw that stinker a mile away.

If I'm going to carry a bottom of the roster, situational RB he better play all phases of ST, study his play book day and night, be a great locker room guy and teammate and be a very humble and eager yes sir - no sir no distraction kinda kid. But by most accounts Blue's an all time bone head with pass protection, fumbling and commitment issues.

I'm rooting for the kid to succeed, it would be nice to have a Kevin Faulk/Darren Sproles pass receiving type back but he's a draft class away from being Duece Vaughn'd right out of here... For his sake I hope he has a heck of an offseason.

There is no doubt that there is something missing with Blue or he would be playing. I suspect its between the ears, coupled with a lack of maturity (which frankly is still a between the years problem) as well as pure strength. What he hasn't shown at all is the ability to pick up the blitz or to even know who to pick up. I suspect in practice that inability to pick up the blitz has been demonstrated time and time again. Without Dak we are dead and everyone knows it. More then one QB has been knocked out of a game or multiple games because a blitz wasn't picked up. Even Williams got ran over once last week when he was in the right place and still got run over. The second time that happened he stoned the guy.

PS. I suspect JB lacks strength. He didn't lift at the Combine and he didn't lift at his Pro Day.

Double PS. One of the reasons Zeke was still here when his legs were stone dead was because he could pick up the blitz. That got him one additional year here when no one else in the league wanted him.

But I thought somebody here said he was another Jahmyr Gibbs...?

CowboyZone talent scouts, I tell ya.
Good stuff.
Remember, these are the same idiots that claimed Sanborn was a huge upgrade at MLB coming from Chicago. Any couch QB could see he was practice squad quality at best after just 1 game.

The coach said about as much as you'll ever hear:

""Young players, it hits at different times. He’s extremely talented. … You have to earn your chance to get out there. There has to be consistency,"

"it’s likely Schottenheimer was referring to the nuances of the position."

Interesting. Yes, I have been critical of Jerry and this FO on many occasions. But I have also posted many threads about some of the good things we’ve done. Some examples in the last 3 months:
As I said, yes I have been critical of Jerry but I base my criticism on one bottom line thing: Playoff results. Just like we judge all other NFL GMs. Results are what matters. When we don’t get them, especially over 3 decades, I believe in pointing it out.

Regarding “credit”: The recent trades Jerry has made should be judged not on the last 3 games - which were outstanding. But 3 regular season games are not a big enough sample size. I like the Pickens trade. I like the Kenny Clark and draft picks trade for Parsons. I really like the Quinnen Williams trade. But it needs time to grade IMO.

The trades and roster upgrades should be measured like all other grades - did it result in playoff success? Or at the very least, qualifying for the playoffs. So if this team can make the playoffs this year or end up winning some playoff games next year, then credit is due.

I want to win. Always have - always will. Whatever I believe stands in the way of my favorite team accomplishing that I will point out. If we win in the playoffs, credit is due. Time will tell.

Just to let you know, your dictation is falling on deaf ears. You should find someone else to argue with if you're so upset about Blue and his situation. I'm just as tired of you and your ideas as you are with seeing the same thing that others are saying. Give it a rest. I agree with what the Dallas coaching staff is doing. There's no need to continue this lame argument. It's a waste of my time and yours, as well. I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- go write a book!
Nah ILL pass..

Apparently, it didn't fall on deaf ears because your keep responding, if you want something to die, let me give you a hint, just don't respond.. Too easy , if any of you want to end these debates, just stop posting..done

Glad I can help you out But I'm sorry that you're deaf I hope that gets fixed soon..

But if you all want to continue these I'll be right here because it's 9 pages deep and if you don't like my opinion too bad I'm not the one who started it maybe you should go to the original poster and say stop being redundant this is like the 4th anti blue post since The season started so I'm thinking I'll say what I want because I think it's ridiculous so I'm going to go beyond ridiculous with my responses...
