Ok, first I was all over for having keith davis on the team to help us on special teams. However, Mickey and several other writers have stated that Keith Davis seemed to reinjure his muscle that he hurt last year, biceps I think or whatever. And Keith Davis has made, count them now, zero, O tacled on special teams.

Along with Keith signing with the Dolphins, he was told that he had opportunity for starting job at free safety, but he didnt get that chance for whatever reason, and when the dolphins said they basically wanted him for special teams he balked, getting upset.

His agent, has said several teams have contacated him to play for them, but you know how that goes, sometimes agents say their player is getting contacts when in fact they arent.

So, thought you might want to know, unless Jerry Jones is willing to throw alot of money at Keith Davis, at least some bonus money about a million or so, dont see that happening.

Now, the Cowboys might want to wait till after 1st regular season game so he doesnt count full salary cap, but some bonus money.

Just thought you would like to know what I have heard and read. Maybe already posted,

At this point, signing a guy just for special teams I don't believe is an option with the rash of injuries at WR. I think you need that roster spot for depth at WR even if that depth isn't exactly NFL quality.

I agree with you.

The injury situations will definitely play a significant factor in the final 53-man roster.

I'm sure Dallas will work him out as you would any other player out before they throw money at him

with the injuries @ wr we cant even keep 3 QB's on the roster so i cant see them bringing in keith davis just for special teams.

I would wait until after the first game as well, particularly if he is injured. And even then, I hope we would not pay him anything like what he was getting before.

And who honestly expected him to be able to win the free safety job there? He was horrible here and that was several years ago. If he could not perform at a high level in a special teams capacity, I do not blame them for releasing him.

I agree. These injuries are really making things tight.

Perhaps you guys have not seen our awesome kick coverage?

We most certainly can sign Keith Davis just for special teams.
Just like we keep a deep snapper just to snap.

Could that mean a 6th CB gets cut or a 6th WR? Yes.
Keith Davis would be active every week for his special teams play alone.
And it isn't like he couldn't play as a backup SS. He has done so and he knows the scheme.

yeah but the vikings didnt have a dangerous punt or kickoff returner. The test will be next week in cleveland against cribbs. If Davis is still a free agent after the cleveland game, and cribbs burns dallas some, I am most likely sure the cowboys will look at keith davis.

It was not terrible last night.

They returned 4 kicks for 101 yards. That isn't terrible but it certainly isn't good.

Put another way they rushed for 100 yards, passed for 155 and returned 4 kicks for 101.

That 25.25 yards per return would have lead the lead last season btw.

FWIW Minny did finish 1st just so happened they did so with Adrian Peterson returning kicks.

That's too bad.
The diva factor might interfere with his career.
On that alone I would be hesitant to sign him.

Keeping 2 QB's these days is not rare.

A ST player is almost as important as a starter.

Sign him now - 8 guys on 53 don't dress. We carried Glenn all last season. ST players are at a premium to suit up.

Unfortunately, I agree. I think a fifth safety and a third quarterback might be two of the first positions to get axed in order to carry a sixth and seventh wideout.

It's a shame, because it would have been nice to bolster our special teams and get a good backup QB for the future.

let's see what our young guys can do

We've seen that and they suck.
And why Keith Davis was cut is all made up second hand bs

Is Cribbs even playing? Thought he was on the injury report there for a while.

If he plays, a TD return is almost guaranteed. He's a good one, and will surely make our guys look silly at least once.
