:( Jeb Putzier | TE Complete player profile
Full Name: Jebediah Lee Putzier
Born: January 20, 1979
Eagle, ID
Height: 6-4
Weight: 256 lbs. Age: 27
Pos: TE
Experience: 4 years
College: Boise State
Drafted: Year:2002 Round:6 Pick:19, Broncos
Insider Analysis
Grade 69
Expert's Take Putzier never was a favorite of coach Mike Shanahan, but it is tough to argue his productivity. Behind Rod Smith, Putzier was the only consistent weapon the Broncos had in the passing game, and his 37 receptions will be missed. He is just an average blocker, but he has above average speed, runs crisp routes and knows how to get open. He will be a solid addition for a team looking for a versatile TE in the passing game.

We all know he is one tough SOB. He can catch and is a good blocker. Great backup and 2 TE sets. Also wouldnt hurt our offense in something bad would happen to(I wont say his name)

One of the knocks on him, according to stuff I've been reading, is that he's actually not a very good blocker. He's more of a receiving threat.

I know he is an average blocker but he blocks better than what they are saying from what I have seen. He is a good rec which would bea an upgrade over Campbell.
I guess I like the guys toughness he took some serious hits last year and still got back in there.

Good post...so that begs the question...what good TE's are in FA? Are there any worth going after?

I can't imagine going into the draft needing:
OT
NT
TE
OLB
WR
FS

Leonard Pope, TE, 6-7, 250 lbs, Georgia at #18

Then let Witten walk next year or why do you think we need 2 TE and why are we wasting a 1st rounder on a TE when we have a pro bowl TE?

No, he's NOT a good blocker... the article you cited was being generous when they called him an AVERAGE blocker...

The Cowboys have their receiving TE, you might have heard of him, kid name of Jason Campbell... what they need is a blocking TE, little more than a 3rd guard on the field... somebody more like Brandon Manumaleuna than Jeb Putzier...

For some teams, Putzier would be a nice addition, but not for the Boys...

Sleeper" -- Jeb Putzier, Boise State (6-4, 248 lbs., 4.65) -- Putzier has develop from an oversized receiver into a solid tight end prospect. He has good speed for a tight end and excellent hands. His improvement this season was accompanied by an impressive growth spurt that now has him close to 250 pounds. He is mostly a finesse blocker to this point, but has room to improve. Putzier's hands and work ethic give him the opportunity to be this year's Eric Johnson (49ers).
