Why not go deep on the Oline

Why don't we activate both Leary and Collins? Why not go with an overload of 6 offensive lineman on about 10-15 plays a game and run the ball down the opposing teams throat and get some nice playactions too? I remember we did this in 09 with Free and Columbo. If a team has a huge strength I say use it! Stack it up like the 49ers of 2012. Run the ******* ball down the other teams throat and hit them with some nice playactions.

I think Leary will be active.

And I agree, I wouldn't mind seeing us use Leary as an extra TE, but in there for blocking purposes. Run the ball and use play action. We may need to go max protect to give the receivers more time to get open. Doesn't mean it has to be our base formation, but I wouldn't mind seeing 7-8 plays from this formation.

its not that simple. this is not college. that OL has to check in as a TE, and given they can't catch really, then its signaling your play and NFL defenses easily counter that if they know what's coming. put in an extra LB or another saftey and load the box. its limiting the running lanes. its not about the defensive players engaged with the OL men, its about the LB and safety that can shoot the gap and close that running lane.

if it was that simple, everyone would be doing it.

in the end, it comes down to pretty much standard offenses in the NFL that run tried and true and everything else is a gimmick that works short term and comes and goes. not much changes. NFL is about talent and execution.

The Cowboys have never been good in the Jumbo package. They run better when they spread out the defense.

If they did use it, they should make Collins or Leary the RT and make Free a TE.

BS. Most teams don't even have 2 good offensive lineman let alone 6 like we do. It's not simple to do because of lack of talent. We can afford to do it and should. Worked for the 49ers when they went to the SB.

again, you can have larry allen in there as well and still yet they can block 6 players. with 8 or 9 in the box, given you are going with a jumbo package the running lanes are hard to come by. defensively I would add another LB and it becomes easy to defend against. again, this is not college football. gimmicks may work for a play or two, but you need standard offensive formations to execute to succeed.

Believe what you would like but the 2012 49ers proved it works. They proved when you have a strength it is best to use your strength. That of course is said until you get to the ten yard line and abandon everything that got you there but hey, they aren't the only ones(see Seattle).

Vince Lombardi--and that style of football---died a long time ago.

You can't prove anything with the SF example... 1. Even they didn't do what you are proposing 2. They had a running quarterback...we don't.

I get that having talent than you can trust is a big part of the conversation against the idea, but I have wondered why teams don't attempt to rotate offensive lineman like defenses do.

Free is better as a blocker in space, anyway.

ok, you are the greatest scheme maker. please send your ideas to all the dallas area writers and dallas coaches. I wonder why you are on a couch in a forum and not an NFL coach. it just baffles me!!!
