Why not just let them score?

What favorable match up? That matchup just got Romo sacked violently . He has history of making mistakes in this type of situation. From the sack, he may be foggy or even somewhat injured. Game is tied. We don't need or want to score too quickly We just need to score 3 points and not leave any time for Peyton.

The last thing you want to do in that situation is hurry up to the line and tried make a play. Any HC with a half a brain would have waited until the 2:00 minute warning to regroup.

Dallas had to run the play before the 2 min or get called for delay of game.

They "thought" about it. But didn't have the guts to call it.
I would have had more respect for Garrett if he had call it. He knew as million of fans at home knew Denver was going to score given what has happened all day. Yet he just is not smart enough to stay away from the "book".

I think he's smart but lacks the courage to think outside the box, this game was a good t one to. Try an onside kick as well. IMO

After the turnover Dallas had two chances to do something different. The first was the pass to D.Thomas where they could have let him get to inside the 10 to remove another first down from the game. That is a little hard to tell a team, hey, if they get a first down don't stop them until they get to the 10 yard line. After that on the pass to the TE, they could have just let him score once he was inside the 5 yard line. There was still 1:40 left at that point. Of course that is all crazy, because that concedes that you don't think your team can stop the other team on 3rd and 1 with selling out on the run. It would be interesting to look at that 3rd down play again and see if they played it honest or if they stacked the line and played single coverage.

We had the ball at 2:39 when we ran the first play. Romo got sacked around 2:33. No time outs were called. They could have run the clock down to the 2 minutes.

Simms during the play said they had to get it off before 2 min. Regardless all this coaching the day after is stupid. Dallas moved the ball all day and now you want to change how they have been playing. Great 2nd guessing bad thing is had Dallas changed what they were doing and lost you guys would be hollering about that as well. It is damn easy to coach from your living room or behind a computer after a game is over. You guys really take the cake

Not really second guessing. You see coaches coaching up players in that situation all the time.

Dallas had moved the ball all day why on earth would you stop? You want to go conservative we have not done well playing the dink and dunk game. It was a bad situation with the OL and Romo getting tangled up but the play was there he made the right read. It sucks but playing the 2nd guessing game of what if? well we don't know what the outcome of that would have been saying here is what we should have done when you have no clue as to the result

Situation should dictate your strategy. Not what you've been doing well all through the game. You mean to tell me because you been doing well throwing the bomb, you want to keep throwing long from your 16 yard line, if you had a 21 point lead? That's absurd.

I know we didn't have the 21 point lead but the situation is not much different. Romo just got sacked violently. We needed to burn some time so that we don't give Peyton another chance if we scored. That was the perfect situation for us to use the 2:00 minute warning to our advantage.

Bigger head coaching mistake was made on the Romo's INT play. That play should never have been ran at that time. The game clock was at 2:39 before the 1st down play where Romo gets sacked. We should have waited until 2 minute warning and regroup before running the second play. We needed to run some time off anyways so why not wait until 2 minute warning, talk it over, and run the second play afterwards.

Any decent NFL HC would have done that instead of having your QB who just got horse collared run another play in that situation.

They could NOT have run the clock down to the 2-minute warning. The play clock was a little over a second ahead of the game clock.

I just watched it again. Either CBS had the wrong time or the game clock operator made a big mistake.

If you watch the play, Romo gets sacked around 2:34. There were no timeouts called that I am aware of. The game clock should have kept on running but from the replay it looks like the clock gets stopped at 2:31 for some reason.

It should have been first and goal after the pass to the TE.

In the NFL, outside the final two minutes of a half, the clock stops after a sack until the ball is set.

How many times has an NFL team just let the opponent score late in the game for the sole purpose of getting the ball back?

There is a huge difference between childish and homophobic.

I wouldn't know since I'm not homophobic.

But keep making those anal references in your posts and calling everyone stupid if it makes you feel better about yourself.

The clock stopped because of the sack. Outside of the final two minutes of either half this occurs.
