Let me take you all back to the 1st half of the denver game with the Cowboys at their own 3 yard line...the play is a bootleg with the thought of hitting the TE...the Bronco defender did a great job of covering the TE...There is no longer any play to make so our 13 - T.H.I.R.T.E.E.N year veteran decides instead of throwing, lobbing, rolling, tossing, shot putting, head butting, kneeing, kicking, the ball out of bounds..he decides he is gonna take on a speedy defense and race for a 100 yards and a score...well as we all know he lost 2 yards on the play leaving us at the one yard line...
I am not mad at Bledsoe for throwing a pick and allowing the Bronco's a TD and momentum...I'm not mad at him throwing behind Key on a slant or low to Glenn or high to Witten...heck all Qb's have some bad throws...but I am frustrated as heck with the brain dead decisions he makes at times.... so
SO there is reason one why not us bad QB decisions
I understand the need to play conservatively at times and I understand under the present circumstances by having a rookie and a ..ummm... tucker
at tackles the added need for protection...but if you do not cause the Defense to back off you will not have any success running or passing so why not use a rolling pocket? why not try the shotgun? there was no point in this game where Dallas could afford to be conservative...
So there is reason two.. lack of playcalling prowness or playing scared or playing too close to the vest knowing that your FG kicker is not that reliable
I have been more than pleased with this rookie class they really have learned a lot and give great effort...but they are rookies and make mistakes and also some of them seem to be slowing down... all of its understandable but some of the deficiences will/can not be fixed till the offseason...
So there is reason three... Rookies hitting the wall
Yesterday was a pretty good game for Al Johnson but it was still on the poor side for a example on one play LA and AL were doubled up on the tackle from what it looked like to me was LA tried to pass the guy off to AL so he could get the LB ...AL got blown up...<again> and at first glance it looked like LA lost the block but now I am pretty sure it was AL who was suppose to handle the DT or AL had to run through or around LA which would have made no sense
So there is reason four...need of a offensive center
I really like the direction the team is taken...and think next year the Defense will be much..much better...
I have had and still have many doubts about Bledsoe...I think you can win with him... but I also think you can lose because of him and maybe more so...which imho is not a good thing...I am not sure who will return on Offense next year (Glenn/Key?etc..) but I look forward to much better line play at least from the tackle position as I think Rob is gonna be very good...I am curious as to whether Peterman can play Center if not he better be pushing Rivera for a starting position...I think we will be drafting some interior O-lineman (C-G)...
Until I see less knuckleheadness out of the QB position I don't see us really contending but than thats what I thought about Mcnabb and he got to a SB...
Go Cowboys
PS I love the effort some of our guys give each and every game
