Why our offense has struggled lately

I hear you. It's frustrating to see Schottenheimer refuse to use Jaydon Blue in the short passing game underneath. Blue's speed and quickness would match up much better against LBs and Safeties.
I don't trust blue and neither does coaching staff. the olympic traits are tempting, but 70 yards on 23 touches....and a fumble already.

he is not very smart or good student of the game. in college most of these players get away with pure athleticism. in pros everybody is athletic and your smarts set you apart.

Yeah, I agree with you. It's the worst offensive line ever. No way a guy who doesn't get a minute to scan the field will ever survive here. MVP
We have an A-/B+ QB which is more than good enough to win if we have a complete team. Give Dak reasonable time and during those seasons we have put up top 5 scoring offenses.

Dak is overpaid by let's say 7M. What are you doing with that money that we couldn't do with our 20M of cap space right now?

The hyper focus on our best players not being good enough is just buying into the Jones model of building a team -- pay stars that sell tickets and fill in the gaps with low end players or high risk reward players we can get at a discount. We look great the first few games of the season until starters or those high risk reward players start to miss time and then the bottom falls out because we have no one behind them that can hold their own.

If we traded Dak for Mahomes at the beginning of the season are we really better than our 3-5-1 record? We scored 40, 37, and 44 points in our 3 wins and even scored 40 in our tie. We are giving up 30.8 points a game, 2nd worst in the league, and yet post after post is about how Dak isn't good enough to win.

I guess everyone just agrees that Diggs is an over paid lost cause so there is nothing to discuss, but at least that is on the side of the ball that is the real problem right now.

Blue can be a weapon. You might be right about his intellect, hence why he is running with lots of hesitance. Remember, he is a rookie so this is all new to him. Sarkisian did him no favors at University of Texas. Sarkisian sucks at making the players better. Blue needs time. But once he gets it (understands the playbook and the speed of the pro game), he's going to be a weapon.

Shotty seems to agree with you given his lack of playing time.

Outstanding post.

Schotty needs to do his job and help make Blue better. It would make Schotty look better as well. Instead, Schotty keeps Blue benched while bragging to the media that he personally like BIG RBs. Obviously, Blue was not a Schottenheimer pick. It was all Jerry. Schotty forgets how a smaller RB was his father's best RB (LaDainian Tomlinson). So far, Schotty is not as smart or as good as his father. He should go back and learn from his father.

According to AI:

"In the 2025 season, Dak Prescott has a 69.3% completion percentage on passes of 30+ yards. This is based on his performance in the "31+ yards" category, which includes both his attempts and completions, as found on NFL.com and ESPN.

Completion Percentage: 69.3%

Details:

While the specific 2025 stats for passes 30+ yards are hard to find, NFL.com provides a category for "31+ attempts" which has a passer rating of 85.8.

Other sources, like CBS Sports, show that in the "31+ attempt" category, Prescott completed 50.9% of his passes, with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

However, other sources such as StatMuse report a 69.3% completion percentage for passes of 30+ yards, which aligns with the data from ESPN.

Another StatMuse report shows a 70.3% completion percentage on passes over 30 yards for the season.

Based on multiple sources, his completion percentage on passes 30+ yards in 2025 was approximately 69.3%. "
By citing actual facts, you’ll incur the wrath of the anti-Dak club. They loath looking at actual stats and cold hard facts.

Dak ain’t perfect but he could have won a ring (as Romo could have), if he played for a great organization that values accountability, delegates authority to football experts, and holds their GM to a five year window to “win the the playoffs” or else. But Dak plays for a dysfunctional franchise with a GM with the football acumen of an emotionally disturbed teenager.

If Dak went to free agency tomorrow, teams would be lining up to sign him, especially before Jerry decided to overpay him.

Lol, indeed.

So true brother!

It’s very difficult to judge a Cowboys head coach because Jerry neuters them at signing. They have a very Sammy amount of authority and Jerry will sign players without the “head coach” even knowing about. Yes, Ol’ Schotty deserves criticism, but his primary role is to pay for Jerry’s mistakes in the continual revolving door of head coaches. There’s so many obstacles to winning that Jerry puts in place, but that will never change.

I understand you like him, and that's fair. But the Bears had a rookie 7th round RB go for 175 yards 2 weeks ago. Point being, rookie late round RBs can contribute and this guy isn't.

Don't worry, if he's still here in 10 years and making more than anybody else at his position, good old AC will still be making excuses for him. And if you don't fully endorse those excuses he'll tell you to go find another team

I'm not trying to challenge you or say Dak sucks.....but what make him an A QB?

When the chips are down and we reallty need HIM to step up...he does? When we are fighting for our lives not as the last nail is being driven.

Crunch time.

I realize other people need to step up at the same time too...but we're talking Dak here.

Based on the 2025 season's results, the Dallas Cowboys have scored the following points in their losses:

Date OpponentCowboys Score
September 4@ Philadelphia Eagles20
September 21@ Chicago Bears14
October 12@ Carolina Panthers27
October 26@ Denver Broncos24
November 3vs. Arizona Cardinals17

an average of 20.4 points.

Have you thought possibly the Bears coaches actually have put lots of coaching, time and practice effort into their 7th round RB rookie? Plus, they actually have given him lots of snaps to play and learn. Big difference from Jaydon Blue.
