Winning is a culture and so is losing. If you are not doing everything in your power to win then it's the same as saying that losing is acceptable.

Therefore, if you are deliberately tanking a season to obtain draft picks then you are telling the present team to losr so some of them can be replaced by a better grade of draft picks.

To a true competitor, playoffs are not the primary incentive to winning. The greatest motivation for winning is winning.

Why do you think he had navy T-shirts made with "Fight" written across the chest? And why do you think he's always talking about the relentless spirit of his last-place team?

JG's problem is that he is satisfied with being in the FIGHT. Great Head Coaches do not only preach FIGHT but also that the team needs to WIN THE FIGHT. RESULTS matter in the NFL in order to make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl. Just because we FIGHT every game this does not matter to anybody but JG. Last Place Teams FIGHT but do not WIN GAMES. I am sure Laundry was happy as hell every game that his Team showed up to the FIGHT. Every year that JG remains as HC of the Cowboys, the enrollment figures at Princeton must be decreasing dramatically.

yeah and this fools JG fans too, they say the guys play hard for him !
But fighting hard and then getting ko'd most of the time is not a good thing.

And your right it is more important to win than fight.

Also the t shirts and the mannequin are gimmicks a person might use on a really young group, like 10 year old kids!
Not a NFL team.

So trotting Moore out there rather than Casell tells the team your tanking?

His trite little sayings and trinkets are frankly, embarrassing. It's grade school-level motivation and hollow. I don't know of too many winning programs have cliched t's and hats printed up for their teams. They might wear the Superbowl championship gear that they've earned, but that's another subject altogether.

We may yet get to see Moore play in the last game or two, depending upon when we're mathematically eliminated. Then, there's always next year in TC to at least compete for a backup role.
Unless Cassel looks good in the upcoming games (quite unlikely) I suspect he'll be introduced to the highway leading out of Valley Ranch. God only knows who next year's backup will be.

Last week the cowboys passed their own 40 only 2 times!! And both of those on huge running plays. And yet Cassel gives us a better chance? Uncle Rico would give us a better chance.

Garrett has given us the worst coaching performance in Cowboys history this season.

Couldn't disagree more.

Garrett's job depends on winning. EVERYBODY involved with the Cowboys looks better when the team wins. Guaranteed, the tone around here would be a lot different if we were 9-4 instead of 4-9, regardless of who was starting at QB or who was responsible for bringing him to Dallas.

If Garrett thought Moore gave the team a better chance to win, Moore would be playing.

Then again, Garrett thought Weeden could serve as the backup. And then the same about Cassell...

Because like any politician, he's good at creating an image and serving up platitudes. However, substance and depth are lacking. You can keep yelling "fight" to a boxer, but if he's not trained and conditioned, he's still going to get knocked out.

That's why the "process" hasn't resulted in any legitimate success whatsoever. In five years, Jimmy Johnson won two Super Bowls. In five seasons, Jason Garrett has won a single playoff game and finished average or less than average in four of them.

That was just the comparison I was going to use!

It's one thing to have the want to do something, but quite another to have the skill to do it.

This organization has stated numerous times that Cassel's give the Cowboys the best chance of winning.....what else needs to be said, it can't be any clearer than that.... that's all you need to know about Moore's skill set at quarterback...he's not the answer!

IRVING, Texas -- Matt Cassel has not earned a seventh start for the Dallas Cowboys this season. Anyone who has watched his previous six starts understands that.

But Cassel will start his seventh game Saturday night against the New York Jets, even though he's 1-5 as a starter with five touchdowns and six interceptions.

Jason Garrett's decision to keep Cassel at the helm tells us a lot about the Cowboys' coach, who will finish under .500 for the first time in his six seasons as head coach.

Garrett is not the Howdy Doody character he portrays to the public, nor is he Jerry Jones' ventriloquist dummy as so many of you think. He has an affinity for dropping F-bombs and is ultracompetitive.

Understand, Garrett has spent his entire tenure as coach creating and maintaining the Cowboys' current culture.

Why do you think he had navy T-shirts made with "Fight" written across the chest? And why do you think he's always talking about the relentless spirit of his last-place team?

Garrett has stood in front of his team every day for the last six years preaching the importance of fighting and competing on every play of every game. Benching Cassel and naming Kellen Moore the starter would essentially tell his players the season is over. And that would undercut the entirety of Garrett's message.

Dumbest thing ever. Benching the least productive QB in the league would be giving up? Playing him is a slap in the teams face!

If Kellen Moore comes in and on the slim chance he is a little bit effective or God forbids wins a game and looks good, it's an indictment of the entire organization that not only did they not see it - but it cost us a season. I believe that's really why he's not paying at this point.

I know they see him every day and it's a long shot that he can really play but how do you ever know unless you get him in.

They'll throw him in at the end of the season but not enough to give him a true body of work.

I agree. I would hope Moore would be awful so that we can lose out and get a top pick, but it would be interesting if Moore looked like a solid QB and won out. One, it would show that we had a guy capable of keeping us in the NFC East lead while Romo was out. That might've prevented Romo from rushing back to play and rebreak the same bone the first time he got hit.
