Why the Cowboys aren't benching Matt Cassel

Well it is done for you and me and all other Cowboy fans, not for the players, not yet. While we can all agree that I have a better chance statistically of winning the powerball lottery than this team does of going to the playoffs, there is still a chance. So Garrett owes it to the team to play the player that they feel gives them the best chance to win. Once we are officially eliminated from the playoffs, then we can see what he does.

I get it...however I am concerned that he really believes Cassel gives the team the best chance to win.
He has shown absolutely nothing that makes winning seem like a real possibility.

I can see the benefit of benching Cassel also...it sends the message to the team that if you are not getting it done then we will sit your butt on the bench and let someone else have a chance. Even if that someone is Moore.

That's why the "process" hasn't resulted in any legitimate success whatsoever. In five years, Jimmy Johnson won two Super Bowls. In five seasons, Jason Garrett has won a single playoff game and finished average or less than average in four of them.

Let that sink in folks . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

When we hear about what's being built here . . . . . . . . . . .

Jimmy inherited a talent depleted team and had 2 rookies to play QB.

Red inherited a team with an elite QB, a HOF TE & possible HOF DE and various pro bowlers.

And we've been told that Red had to tear down his depleted roster and it takes time to build a talented one . . . . . . .

JG and his OC need to get on the same page. I just read an article yesterday where Linny is gushing about Moore and how much he likes him, etc.

This team sucks

throw the guy out there! Good Lord! What can it hurt?

They are not going to the playoffs & we are getting piss poor QB play week after week.

See if he's got anything. If he doesn't you know going into next season.

We could go from the 29th ranked passing offense (in terms of passer rating) to the 30th or worse.

Terrifying stuff.

This organization has stated numerous times that Cassel's give the Cowboys the best chance of winning.....what else needs to be said, it can't be any clearer than that.... that's all you need to know about Moore's skill set at quarterback...he's not the answer!

Bottom line...he's still green.
But right about now....I don't give a micky-flick. I'd rather lose with Kellen.

And how many Super Bowls did Jimmy win after the Cowboys?

Every season the NFL has a bunch of guys who were bottom roster types who get a chance to play and surprise everyone. So I suppose all those coaches were ignoramuses too, right?

Though I'd probably start Moore just because.... Though it's a point that you might not want to start him first time against a defense the caliber of the Jets.

Different age and different football rules.
Surely y'all know this.
Plus, I shouldnt have to remind people that EVERY SB contender/winner had a good to great defense. Garrett has come well with the offense in the past. Defense....not so much.

True.

And that line has also been used by the Garrett Apologists when they claim Red had it tougher than Tom Landry did in building a team. Ive yet to connect all the dots on that and Im not sure I ever will be able to figure out how Coach Landry had it easier building the roster for an expansion team than Red did inheriting a roster with pro bowlers and HOFer's.

It is maddening listening to them discuss this on the break. Eatman keeps saying how the kid can't play. They are scoring 6 points per game and lost 8 of 9 which should be 9 of 9 without the blown jackson fumble call and we are really worried about the production decreasing???? Gotta be kidding. Moore may suck but there is no question that cassel sucks. Find out what he is.

We need to keep playing Cassel. He gives us our best chance to lose.

That made me laugh for some reason. So hard I got tears in my eyes.

And this is where we are as fans of the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

Pathetic!

After watching the team jawing at coaches, dogging it on the field at the end, and other such shenanigans I don't think it much matters. I see the draconian Jimmy fear tactics have been applied. That act only works so long until your cutting talent you cannot afford to lose and you have a mutiny to boot.

Ultimately the problem was that the team was so thin that two injuries completely destroyed them and Garrett is so conservative he can only win with a stacked deck.
