Why the negativity?

I know this draft has been pretty weird and people are complaining that we aren't filling needs, but it isn't like our need players are all being scooped up at this point. At WR guys like Chansi Stuckey, Dave Ball, Jarrett Hicks, and Matt Trannon are all still out there. At DB there's still Courtney Brown, David Irons, Travarous Bain, and Anthony Arline are still on the board. NTs like Walter Thomas, Keith Jackson, and Kelly Talavou are still out there too.

cause people tend to flock to negative stuff moreso than positive.

WR wasn't too big a deal for us - THIS YEAR. austin and hurd deserve a year as 4 and 5 to see what they can do. NEXT YEAR if wr is a big need - we can get that calvin johnson possibly.

A perfect end to the day for me would be Thomas, Irons, Ball, and Wolf.

People like flashy not boring. To the casual fan, this has been a boring draft. I certainly don't feel that way.

Because the team did not draft their pet cat or pet cat position; that is part of it.

Funny how people moan about a kicker in the 6th round but if you look around the NFL most 6th and 7th round picks do not even make the rosters on most teams some even end up on the practice squad for a bit then move to the roster later on.

Some contribute; some become really good players;some become above average etc etc and the majority wash out of the NFL.

For every Colston (who was almost cut in camp) and Crayton there are 50 are more wash outs in the 6th and 7th round

I don't know how this draft will turn out. But right now it is right up there with the highest of the high on my freakin weird-o-meter.

I wanted Meachem, Tyler and Barbre before the draft.

But I'm loving what Dallas has done instead.

this draft is about next year's pick from Cleveland. That's what this entire draft will be remembered for. If it's a top ten pick next year, (which it will be) this draft will be seen as a winner.

I wouldn't go crazy about picking a kicker in the 6th round because, how many sixth rounder position guys make it?

By what I can find of history yes

You do realize most the fore fathers of this country even after creating the government thought you should treat it as a necessary evil.

In other words never trust the government

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Because people want players who they know their name and have read up on. Guys who play at the skill positions or glamour positions. You know... players like Antonio Bryant.

It's human nature. Known names from bigger schools who play positions that grab attention are the players that people want their team to take. When their team takes a guy they've never heard of, it's assumed that it isn't a good pick... which of course isn't neccessarily true at all.

Solid drafts often come when fans don't hardly even know a good portion of the picks. Heck, half the time the players the Patriots take in the draft, I've never heard of... sometimes even their late first rounders are some obscure OL or something that aren't that well known.

Hatcher from the third last year is a real good example. He's probably going to be a very good 3-4 DE for us and hardly anyone knew him prior to the draft. The Patriots wanted him and we just snuck in front of them to get him. I think he'll replace Chris Canty this year for a lot of snaps. His (Hatcher's) measurables were actually very close to Jammal Anderson from this draft... they're very similar players. Hatcher will play well for Phillips.

People though, during the draft, want their teams to take name players who they know and have researched. When teams take "name" players in skill or glamour positions, fans tend to think their team had a good draft.

We drafted a kicker and a FB?

These are not team needs.

Everyone else says that DB, NT, and WR are team needs.

"everyone else" - well gosh darn - hard to argue with the ultimate killer of "everyone else says!!!"

could you be a tad more generic in your "proof"?

How about the ticker at the bottom of the NFL Network channel?

Who is everybody? It doesn't matter what everybody says. What matters is what the team feels they need.

go ahead and just say you're one of the "i read it once, so it must be true!" people who don't bother to do your own research or analysis.

Well, they've been playing it just about every time we've had a pick.

If you watched the draft on the NFL Network, I'm sure you've seen it once or twice.

They do it for every team.
