Why is it "likely" that whoever we get is worse than Garrett?
Because if it is Sherman or Wade Wilson, it undoubtedly would be. Saunders does not impress me and I would call that a wash. He's been very ordinary without Vermeil and Garrett at his worst was ordinary. There is no sense in imagining he was below average.
I'm not sure a "bright young mind" is such a great idea anymore. I'd really rather have an experienced hand at OC, because I'm tired of the on-the-job training. How many of the playoff teams have these whiz kids at OC?
Haley sort of falls in that "young" boat, although I think he is overrated. I am not dead set on the young thing. I think it is a fad. The reason I used young was because that is what category Schottenheimer falls into.
I might've thought like you last year, but then I saw what an old retread like Cameron did with the Ravens. Would Flacco have developed like he did under Garrett? I seriously doubt it.
I like Cameron too. Sadly, I don't see him or anyone like him available. I see overrated retreads like Saunders.
And speaking of Saunders -- frankly, he's done far more than RJ ever did as an OC.
And so have a lot of other offensive coordinators. Mike Martz has "done more" than Jason Garrett. That does not mean I would hire him either.
