Why trade up? Why not trade out?

How many open roster spots do you see?

About 10 - 12.

Let's see

RB - 2 JJ and TT replaced
WR - 2 Glenn and quite possibly Austin upgraded
OL -1 We can always improve depth here. And if Flo is gone, I wouldn't be surprised if we use a high pick on another OT

FB - 1 Hoyte could easily be ugraded.

LB - 1-2 We could use an ILB and one more OLB

Secondary 2-3 2 CBs and possibly 1 Saftety to replace Davis, if he goes.

QB - 1 We could easily get a QB to groom for the number 2 spot.

Right now we have 8 picks.

Let's see what we do with respect to our own FAs and who we sign in FA.

But I could easily see at least 10 replacements on our 2008 roster - if not more.

The Patriots also have had little problems winning playoffs games. We are not the Patriots. They can trade out and not worry about it because they are secure in the talent on their roster and their ability to get guys to come there because they want to win Superbowls. We have neither of those things going for us right now.

You act like we are bums...we had the most talent in the NFC this year. Guys not performing isn't a display of talent, or lack of.

well if the draft boards are even close to correct and Cason is for some reason gonna slip to the 2nd then by all means draft Malcolm Kelly 22nd (crossing my fingers) and trade down from 28.

I thought Deon Anderson looked very good when he was healthy. Why draft someone when we have a good one as it is?

I doubt we'll draft a FB. I too like Anderson, but he's not exactly the tough "stick your nose in there" powerblocker that Owen is (and I have a feeling Owen is who people have in mind when they discuss upgrading at FB), he's much more of a H-Back.

Point is we don't need starters at all those positions.

Yeah we need a RB but Jones is about to throw starter money at Barber, how do you justify paying starting money to another RB?

It's obvious we need to upgrade and get younger at WR but the talent is deep in this draft in rounds 2 and 3 at WR. The value unless someone drops is not their at 22 or 28.

The same goes for the other positions you listed.

On top of that you list in your opinion 12 open roster spots and only 8 selections. Reason again if the opporunity presents itself to trade down with 1 of the firsts and gain more picks or future picks to do it.

Not many rookies are gonna make this team. We don't need MORE picks. They will be wasted. We need more HIGH picks to get players that can step in immediately and contribute. We're not the Commanders.

I would generally speaking, rather trade down than up, but the bottom line is....I really just like to see how it unfolds.........who falls, or doesn't and go from there.

To have a blanket philosophy is kinda dumb. Just sit there and see how the draft unfolds in accordance with your needs.

One thing I do know, I want NOTHING to do with trading our 2 first rounders to grab McFAdden given the RB depth and number of holes we have on this team. That much is certain as far as I'm concerned.

Carry on.

Don't forget that this year (if I remember correctly, ) each team will only have 10 minutes for 1 round picks instead of 15 minutes. That means that deals will have to be made much quicker than in past years. That could mean more trades with point values that may not be as close as in past years

Oh, I don't mind trading down.

I was only speculating on how many open roster positions we could have this coming season.

And if you look at my mock draft version 2.0, I don't have us drafting a RB in Round 1 either.

Personally, depending on what we do or don't do with Flo, I would see us drafting a CB, WR, or OT in Round 1.
