Why Tyson Thompson didn't play

Every one has raved about how he has looked in training camp, and he certainly looked good last week. Last night the only time he was shown was to mention he wasn't playing.

I think Parcells wants to cut him and sign him to the practice squad, and he didn't want Tyson Thompson to be seen on national television. If he had played him and he looked as good as last week then he might not make it off of waivers.

I don't see the point in that. It's not as if the other 31 teams in the league won't be able to find a copy of our game against Arizona. It wasn't exactly top secret, I've got it on my tivo so I assume that scouts for the NFL could do the same.

Would you pick up a guy based on one game againt 3rd & 4th stringers? Maybe after a couple of games, but not just one.

Thompson didn't play because he has already made the squad. Bill Parcells now has a decision to make on whether to keep Barber or Thomas or both.

Any team would take a flyer on a guy with that speed doesnt matter what string players he played against. If we cut him he is gone plain and simple.

If I was a scout and it was my job I'd find more footage. I surely wouldn't need someone to put him on MNF before I knew about him. Especially when we all know the buzz around camp and we're not getting paid for it. Sorry, I just think that it would be totally pointless to try and 'hide' a guy when people can just pick up tape or read the newspaper or turn on the radio and hear all about how he's doing in camp. If Thompson didn't play because of that then Parcells has truly lost touch with the reality of the information age. But I don't think it had anything to do with that.

We played Thomas to see if we can get a late 2nd day pick for him instead of just cutting him.

That's the way that I see it as well.

BP needs to find out between MBIII and AT who to keep. I wouldn't think that he would cut TT after the game that he had against AZ. If he was going to cut him, he probably would have given him some snaps in this game as well to cement it in his mind.

No way he stays on the PS if he were to be put on it.

Parcells is looking for a reason to get rid of either Barber or Thomas. He's hoping one of these guys stinks it up and makes his decision an easy one. Problem is both Barber and Thomas showed up last night.

If this keeps up we will have four running backs on the final roster. Not a terrible problem to have.

Purcells: :pray2: "Boy, I sure hope one of those running backs stinks up the place. Please make the decision for me. I can't do it. I'm lost. I'm clueless. Please, oh, please."

hehehe......hehehe.

Everyone is sure in love with the Arizona hero. I don't think I've ever seen an undrafted FA RB rush for 60 yards and suddenly become a guy who's going to run a 4th round rookie or a 1000 yard vet off the roster. I still say he'd clear waivers.

In addition to wanting to get a good look at MB and A-Train, I think another factor was Parcells not wanting to show Seattle very much since they have to play them this season. I think that also was a factor in letting the first half tick away with 47 seconds left rather than going with the two minute offense and showing Seattle what you're working on; let them find out during the season.

It did cross my mind that BP might be trying to hide him, but I discounted that. I think the reason was that after MBIII's fumble, BP wanted to put him right back out there to "tough" it out and see what he's made of.

On the nosey.

In fact, that fumble might have taken playing time away from Thompson.

Personally I don't know what all the hype is about. So what hes fast, he didn't show much else. I would rather have Thomas and Barber than him. Minus the 2 fumbles by Barber he did great, as did Thompson last week against 3rd and 4th stringers. I think Parcells finds some way to keep all four, but the order will be Jones, Thomas, Barber, Thompson. IMO.

And trust me speed is not everything, just ask a guy named Emmitt.

pre-season game 3 against the texans should pretty well dope-out parcell's plans at RB. if tyson thompson doesn't see any action - he was already a foregone conclusion.

i also doubt he clears the PS. you can't teach his brand of speed. he'd be an intriguing gamble for a team deeper than ours.
